In a weighted comparison (like CalPreps), Father Ryan and South are both more than 3 times better than any opponent Woodford has faced regardless of record that you may like to discount.  You were at the game on Friday.  Are you really willing to say you think any team Woodford has played is anywhere close to being able to beat South Warren?

Are you really prepared to tell me you don't think BG could do the same or more to Woodfords opponents?

I didn't come here to battle for Pikeville, but to discount their schedule or ability is short-sided IMO regardless of classification.  All 1A teams aren't created alike and I wouldn't say this about any other 1A team right now.

Again, as I said, I don't have a big problem with it, but you do recall what happened when South went to Woodford last year, correct?

The irony of bringing in Cal Preps weighted comparisons that everyone loves so much is that Cal Preps has Woodford beating Father Ryan, South Warren, and Bowling Green.   So there's that.  I just put a lot of stock in winning and Woodford has won 19 of their past 20 games.

I'm a BG fan but lets not kid ourselves.  Their run defense is suspect at best and running is what Woodford does best.  South Warren's strength is their run defense so it would come down to Woodford playing defense against South.  Father Ryan is a losing team at 2-5 and losing teams tend to do just that....lose.  Again, everyone loves referencing CalPreps, when it works in their favor.  Calpreps has Woodford beating all 3.  Go Jackets!  LOL

Your a smart guy.  I think you know the answer to my question.  Agree to disagree with your argument.

Winning is great, but I believe that playing such an easy schedule is a massive detriment in the playoffs.  Especially coming against the likes of CCH, BG and SW who all play harder schedules and know how it is to battle through 4 quarters.

Exactly. Father Ryan is a great team! They'd probably be a top 5 overall team in Kentucky. 

BG coming in at #4 is very questionable here. The Purples should be at the #2 spot in 5A and I think it's a pretty solid #2 at that.

If South Warren plays a harder schedule than Woodford County, then what the heck is Woodford County being ranked as high as they are? Woodford County hasn't played anybody. I'd take South Warren all day long against Woodford this season.

Slightly off subject, but is Tennessee HS football that much better than KY? You are saying all the Tennessee teams would handily beat anyone from KY that's not named Trinity or St. X? 

 

I haven't the slightest inkling about Tennessee HS football.

I think Tennessee has more depth than Kentucky.

Which is one of the more impressive turnarounds in a rivalry I have ever heard in any sport, considering I think Highlands win streak was like 15 from 2007-2015.  Can't begin to compare this to any two teams any sport.  Also, HHS is in the biggest state championship drought in their history, which I think is 9 years.

No. I will say that the top big-school private in TN will generally beat everyone in KY, with the exception of if one of KY’s big-school blue bloods (T, X, Male, BG, Boyle, etc.) is having a banner year. 
 

The depth of high quality big-school teams in TN is exceptionally deeper than it is in KY. I would say that there are, between the big school privates and publics, 10 or so teams in TN that would have a legit shot at beating any KY team this year. 
 

Flip that statement and I would say only X from KY would have a legit shot at beating any TN team this year. 

That’s not a knock on the talent or coaching or prioritization of football by KY… it’s really just a population thing.
