Ohio State 21 Notre Dame 10

Featured Replies

Wasn't really impressed with either team from what I saw.  Still, a solid first week matchup.

This was really tight until about midway through the 3rd quarter when OSU started wearing ND down.  Plus, ND's QB turned his ankle in the game but no excuses here, OSU is clearly better.

About 20 minutes ago I was thinking the same thing.  I was thinking Georgia would be drilling either team.

Georgia was super impressive.  Don't know much about Oregon outside their ranking, but UGA manhandled them.

Right, we need at least two more weeks of games to know much.

Great minds Beast!

I'll eat some crow, I expected OSU to flat out smoke the Irish. So maybe ND is much better than I expected.

I agree with Randy and G, we'll know more about this game after a few weeks.

Ohio State is better than what they showed tonight. They will sharpen things over the next two weeks and I suspect we’ll see a different team when Wisconsin rolls into Columbus.

I’m a Notre Dame fan, and I didn’t even expect Notre Dame to keep it this close. I knew Notre Dame doesn’t have the offense to keep up with OSU, but the defense surprisingly kept that great OSU in check most of the game.

Notre Dame was actually winning until like 18 seconds left in the third when they gave up a a touchdown on third and long when they did a double safety blitz for some reason. Then still had a chance being only down 4 with 6 minutes to go in the 4th before OSU scored a touchdown to seal it.

People may not like it, but this performance will have Notre Dame very much in the playoff talk if they can win out from here.

Stroud is very good and I think will have a good pro career, but I would still like him to use his feet more.  On 3rd down you have to do whatever you can to pick up the first.  If that means taking off then you do it.

The defense looked improved with an actual scheme that works.  Arkansas St ran for over 300 last week.  Good luck replicating that.

I can jive with this...

My takeaway was that I think OSU left some points on the board and can play better, but I was really really impressed with ND's first showing under Freeman. They didn't have the experience or players to beat OSU on Saturday, but if they proved they can play right with them.

All too often we simply look at an underwhelming performance from a team and completely dismiss the fact that even in they had an off night the opposition is somewhat to blame for that!

I think it's pretty obvious and I would say a common theme that an 11-1 Notre Dame team would be in any playoff discussion.

Next year in South Bend with OSU starting a new QB could be very interesting.
