I won't attempt individuals for Boyd Co. but I believe they had 12 turnovers

and 32 boards (to Russell's 27).

 

Don't jump all over me for this, but I really thought the last two fouls (at

least the last foul on Boyd) was a little inconsistent with the way the refs

had called the rest of the game. I would have liked to see it played out on the

floor, but without a doubt Russell still lost this game at the line. I believe they

were around 60% from the field, which is phenomenal, but they were only

something like 6-15 from the line.

Congratulations to Boyd on the win. Selvy (sp?) was a huge factor in the

game. When he was in, I thought Harvey did a good job defending / neutral-

izing him, but Harvey just doesn't have the stamina at this point to guard a

guy for an extended period of time.

Hey shooter I dont think anybody got Selbys tag number,I think it said MOVE OUT OF MY WAY.Russell had no answer for Selby,Casey made some clutch 3s In the 4th. Boyd is getting better and better.They are the gaint killers.

Not because I know his parents, but I thought Branham hit some huge shots for Boyd in the AIT. I think his outside game compliments Selby in the paint very nicely. Boyd has the role players to win, because they are all willing to play for the "Team" and not the "Me".

 

Excellent win for Boyd, and I know that one game does not make a season, but this should lay to rest the idea that the 16th is one team is head and shoulders above the rest.

 

I still think Russell is at the head of the pack, but the pack is closer than some believed. I think any one of five teams could win the region, depending on the draw and who's hot at the right time.

 

It's gonna be a good March ...

This isn't a shocker, Boyd is good and Russell wasn't going to win every region game.

The biggest difference in this game was the defense that was played on Vanhoose by Ryan Crisp and Brad Blanton. They played physical with him and denied him the ball. Most of Vanhoose's were scored when someone other than those 2 were guarding him. Great job Lions on a big win.

By the way Shooter, what was the warning you were referring to. Could it be to watch out for the Lions??????

No crow for me. I don't like Russell or Boyd. I am happy that Boyd go the win and showed all the other teams that everyone is beatable!

But yes, I do know that one loss and/or one win doesn't mean the other has no chance. It will be a battle all the way through March.

Like RickyP, I don't think anyone said that Rose Hill was head and shoulders above the rest of the region, but I do think they are in the top echelon of teams, and that they are a legitimate threat for a trip to Rupp Arena.

King, not to take anything away from these two athletes, but everyone has been playing physical against him this entire year and denying him the ball because IMO the Sidelines at Russell DON'T do enough to free him up!!! He is such a great talent and all the teams that have a go to guy have used numerous screens on 1 play sets to just free up their guy, but I have only seen Russell throw maybe two to three screens on a drawn out play set to try to free up Vanhoose. I am so glad that he has already signed (or is it verbal) with Evansville, b/c now he can relax and have fun playing this season rather than living day in and day out wonderin if the staff is going to give him a legitimate shot with the ball instead of needing to try and impress scouts for a future that he wants. Many of his points are self earned and deserved. I hope that his free throw funk goes away soon though.:cry:

Boyd didn't win any awards with their freethrow shooting tonight either. Selbey hits 2 big ones at the end though.

 

Casey Branham hit 3 of the biggest clutch 3's in a row I've seen in sometime.

 

Vanhoose and Robinson were lights out behind the arc. Wow! Fun game!

Awesome night Boyd, we took it right to them. We ain't layin' down for anyone. And that's just one of six local losses that they will fall victim to. Great game!
