One kid can’t win a game. Eli Manning was 2-0 against Tom Brady in Super Bowls. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone that would say Eli was a better QB than Tom.

#2 is has potential ... But I am not real sure the constant hype on the message board is doing anything other than piling on unrealistic expectations on the back of a 16 year old. I am just not so sure that this type of talk helps this player. I hope he does well - but these statements or at least similar ones may lead to some seriously unrealistic expectations. 

Sounds like you know more about Smith than me. I do know his Twitter shows some pretty good stuff. I  have no idea what schools in particular.  I seriously doubt any 16 year old is reading the boards on BGP though. No offense.  lol

Biggers from Murray did have almost 1,000 yds of offense and 14 TD’s last year. He was the leading receiver and one of the leading rushers. I’m sure he will put up even bigger numbers this year. No doubt he is a great player. I think he is getting recruited primarily as a db though. I don’t even think Carman played in very many games last year because of injury and other issues.

I am not sure which part is funnier -- the statement acting you don't really know him -- or that 16 year olds don't read messageboards. I mean ... seriously? I don't even know where to start -- but it does speak to some of the outrageous claims in some of  your other posts. 

 

Approximately 70% of your posts mention the same player. 

I don't know him at all -- but what I do see -- is a bunch of posts that border on a distorted view of reality. 

If I know him better than you -- why are you following him on Twitter -- when I don't have a Twitter account? With that said -- you admit that you were on his Twitter account -- what camps has he been to? What large school coaches have reached out to him? (again -- if you are getting that from Twitter ... throw it out there). 

 

I think that these points that you are trying to back track on -- are not going to help this player. Even a little bit. I remember when the older brother was playing a few years back -- constant conversation about UC, UK, etc ... 4 Star ... 5 Star -- none of that happened. 

 

Now that I think about it ... maybe I do know him better than you do? Because I know enough to realize that the hype that is out there for this player right now -- puts him in a horrible situation. He is a good player but the truth of the matter is -- especially in Kentucky -- this state isn't a Quarterback recruiting hot bed. Let the kid create his own hype. Pretty sure he can figure it out.

I appreciate the response -- this is a perfect example of why this player needs to be given space to make his way. 

I don't know specifically why he left Beechwood -- but these constant threads/posts on the topic make it fair game.

Totally agree he needs some space to see what he can do and make his own way. 2A is great football but hard to get a QB to a big school look at Cam Hergott who is one of the best to ever play in NKY and he had to take an extra year to get to EKU (which is great program) so why add pressure to this young man let him breathe a little. 

The QB position is tough for many reasons and there is only 1 spot so sometimes if you want to play and hopefully play multiple years you may have to move schools - long list of kids who have done that. Beechwood had the Hayden kid coming in who they were pretty high on who also moved schools to get to have the opportunity to play sooner vs. staying at Ryle where he would have been behind one Verax and just a year ahead of the other, so maybe going back to Walton was a way for the Smith kid to get on the field.

Stayed.... even picked up a few.

A  few additional names to watch from LCA:

LCA - c/o 24 Parker Chaney - Corner/Safety. Chaney has started for LCA as a freshman on two highly talented teams and has lead the team in interceptions his first two years. Chaney has an extremely high football IQ and covers like high dollar paint.
 

LCA - c/o 23 Evan Brown - corner - Evan is the younger brother of Xavier Brown (UVA). Evan is a lock down corner and will come down hill a lay a hit. 
 

Having Parker and Brown in the secondary is a big weapon for LCA this season especially as the LB core has a totally new identity following the graduation of Morris (Navy), Selby (Murray State) and Hammond (North Central). Both Chaney and Brown are big contributors on the offensive side of the ball as well. 

LCA - Jay Emerson - c/o 23 - RB/DL. Jay is a load at RB - 6’1” 235 with power, speed and agility. It takes several would-be tacklers to bring Jay down. Jay will lead a stable of running backs on Reynolds Rd this season.
