Yeah, that's not a good game for either team. Do the schools get to schedule their own JCPS games or is that set up by the county AD?

Overall good schedule but not sure why they schedule Valley.

Given the current state of 6A/5A football in Louisville there aren't a lot of options. JCPS teams rarely play more than one game beyond border counties, limiting their choices even further.

Crimsons had a good Week 2 game against Fern Creek for over a decade. Would have been the best option maybe if the Tigers were available in Week 4. A game vs. CAL sounds good, but it's their rivalry week at LCA. Sure a game vs. Trinity would be useful, but the two, for whatever reasons, haven't made it work since '14. No regular season game vs. DeSales since 2000 either.

Not to overlook Valley, but maybe healing up and prepping for the next week's game vs. Cincy LaSalle isn't a bad thing. Looking at last year's results, is there really much difference in beating a 6A school like PRP 42-0 or 4A Valley 61-0? 2022 schedule maybe the best possible, and looks solid overall.

Many of the JCPS schools are mandated to not play the privates.

Only hurting themselves as typically big gate games and let’s you know what areas you need to work on.

I guess my question would be what does Valley get out of playing Manual? There has to be another JCPS school that would be a bit more comparable to Manual than Valley. But maybe Valley has a good team coming up, I'm not really sure what Valley has.

Agree on the potential gate money a home game vs a visiting private might bring. Other than Male and Central, nobody's lining up to play T or X in a non district game to be sure, but I don't think "many" is completely accurate. Maybe as much to do with the inequities between JCPS athletic programs too?

I'm looking at a grid of the 20 JCPS football school's schedules, 2010 to 2021.  All of them have played at least one two year Non District series against a Louisville private school:

Butler - DeSales

Doss - St. Xavier

Fairdale - St. Xavier, DeSales, Holy Cross, plus one vs CAL.

Fern Creek - DeSales

Iroquois - KCD

Jeffersontown - Holy Cross

Moore - Holy Cross

PRP - DeSales, Trinity (+ Lex Cath last year).

Southern - DeSales, KCD. Trojans are one of three JCPS teams to schedule vs a private each of the last dozen years.

Valley - Holy Cross

Western - DeSales, Holy Cross

Atherton - KCD. Ravens have also played a private school all years, '10-'21.

Ballard - St. Xavier, DeSales, plus one vs CAL.

Central - St. Xavier, DeSales, CAL (+2 out of state private).

Eastern - CAL, plus KCD and out of area Bethlehem last year.

Male - St. Xavier, Trinity, CAL, High being the third public to play a private all twelve years.

Manual - Trinity (+ out of state Cin. LaSalle).

Seneca - DeSales, Holy Cross, KCD

Shawnee - CAL, KCD, DeSales, Holy Cross, and out of area Bethlehem.

Waggener - KCD and out of area LCA.

Within the current alignment cycle, only Doss, Manual, Valley, and Western haven't played a Louisville private school in the last three years.

Great work on that.

There is a new sheriff in town and I’ve heard rumblings that things are about to change wrt publics playing privates.

Here's hoping the sheriff is a scheduling wizard and budgeting for extra travel and insurance expenditures. Some past head JCPS ADs have been absolute jackwagons too.

Change in what way?

Not the good kind.

The word I heard was this:

No non district matchups on Varsity level. No playing on JV/Frosh level. In response to this, at least one public school is trying to get long contract terms with the privates before this takes effect.

we’ve all heard this before around the big city and only a few people know if this has actually been talked about by the new AD.

If that is true they should also include the "public privates" (Manual, Male, Butler, etc.).

Should be left to the individual schools to schedule who they want that they feel is in best interest of their program.

If I was a public school I wouldn’t play Trinity or St X either they are like Alabama they get the best players every year what’s the point of getting your brains beat out by the same team every year that clearly has advantages that you don’t have.

This is in every sport not just football.

X and T are great at football because it’s a numbers game. The more you have the better your chances of success.

In Basketball,  T has won 2 state titles in the last decade plus. X NONE and hasn’t been to State since the 90s.

In baseball, both are great every year because again it’s a numbers game.

They both do bring big gates for most every sport. If I was an AD, I’d take the gate.
