Final from the south regional final. Villanova is headed to the Final 4. They will take on the winner of tomorrows Kansas and Miami winner.

Houston couldn't hit anything.  Villanova just keeps winning.

Neither could Villanova but they hit a few more shots than Houston.

Both teams shot 29% FG. But Villanova made 5 treys and was 15/15 from the free throw line while Houston was 1/20 on 3 point attempts and made 9 free throws. Lost by 6. If they could have just made 4/20 from 3 land (which is still bad) they would have won.

They are just taking advantage of the way it is officiated, but college basketball feels like it has devolved back into how it was being played before they started emphasizing the freedom of movement in 2013-2014. Each day of the tournament there are several games with teams struggling to put up 30 in a half. While I appreciate the defensive effort and hustle, it can be painful to watch. Granted these teams were missing some wide open looks, but they were never going to be putting up over 65. That’s not a good thing.

Houston really advanced longer in the tourney than I expected with a tremendous lack of scorers and horrendous free throw shooting but you have to say the defense was excellent, but in the end if you can’t shoot it, you can’t win it all.

That was physically painful to watch. Gotta admit that I switched over to ladies’ golf for a while.  

Justin Moore was their only potential NBA draft pick and he is out now with a torn achilles. Just not enough talent to win the title. Great accomplishment for them getting to the Final Four.
