UL 24 Wake Forest 13

Featured Replies

Brian Brohm had outstanding numbers (24-34, 300+ yards). I remember seeing him in high school and seeing his quick feet and good speed and I just do not see that anymore. I am being very critical in this post because everyone is saying Brian Brohm will be the number one or two quarterback chosen if he decides to enter the NFL draft this year. You all have set the expectation standard, so here we go:

Brian Brohm looks overweight to me.

Brian Brohm is not quick in the pocket nor does he have any more than a 2nd gear when he tucks it up and heads upfield. I understand he is not a running quarterback, but at least quickness is still very much needed.

Brian Brohm is not 6'4" to my naked eye. I have not stood next to him to properly guess his height, but he is not 6'4". I believe the 230+ weight and I think it is to his detriment.

Brian Brohm has a flawed throwing motion. Brings the ball too much behind and too close to his head. To his credit, he still seems to be very accurate, just does not have a classic motion.

There are still a bunch of positives.

Brian Brohm does read defenses very well, he is a student of the game, he seems to have adequate leadership qualities although he is not very vocal. This is a down year for quarterbacks entering the NFL draft. I see a great opportunity for Brian Brohm to leave early and be drafted high only because of what else is not out there, not how polished and ready he is right now.

For what it is worth, I was not overly impressed with Tim Couch being the number one pick several years ago. He had some glaring weaknesses as well and was unable to overcome them in the NFL.

I hope you are prepared for this post to be picked apart by the faithful..

This is a direct response to strongopenyon, as I am fairly sure that you have watched Brian from a distance. He is lean, very lean. This comes from he and I having a conversation together at the Trinity Hall of Fame Dinner. With that, I am a solid 6'2", people on here can vouch for that, and I look up to Brian, he is a legit 6'4", his weight, I think is more around 224-225, though not a big deal. You are right, he is not as fast as high school, but he now wears two braces that he did not. As far as form is concerned, that is the one thing that EVERYONE since he was a kid said he was picture perfect in, and he indeed is, even his footwork, and balance upon delivery. His biggest knock is not being very vocal, and not having that next gear, the rest is all upside.

I saw a talked to Brian a couple of years ago at a passing tourment in Louisville that my kid was playing in. Brian is 6' 4" plus. He's a big kid. I couldn't help but smile and laugh a little at his outfit. Square sun shades and prep-pee shirt and shorts. I said to myself if I had those looks I'd wear those shades as well. I have a kid 6' 3" and he is taller than him. Talked to him just a few minutes. Seems like a great kid, talked to his brother as well while I was there. They said Coach P was there that day but I must have missed him, I'm sure he was there to watch his son in the passing games that day.

Awesome!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Ditto!!!!:ylsuper:

Wake held on... score was much closer than most expected....I think UL got a big break with it being Wake.
I just got back from the Miami and this comment is absurd. That was a very GOOD Wake Forest team. I didn't see much of Wake before the game and they were much better than advertised.

I can certainly agree with you on this RRR. Imo is that U.L. had way too much speed for Wake and that (to me anyway) was the big difference.

Fun times. But I got back not too long ago from dropping off 02ram after pretty much a straight drive from Miami... so I'm just ready to say zzzzzzzzzzzz.

And GO CARDS!!!

It was crazy that I saw you guys!! :ylsuper:

I had way too much fun, a very long night after the game. The stadium was very bright and the screens were very cool, especially the one between the lower and upper levels. A good win for the Cards, I was impressed with the number and the noise from the WF crowd. I would go back in a heartbeat, unbelieveable great weather.

Have to tell you...you were the talk of the staff meeting today!

Yeah it was, but of course we were scouting you out. Also, when we walked past the part of the stadium where the band was going in to get ready or whatever we yelled "DEUCE!!!" while walking by. I doubt you heard us, but we tried to be loud.

You rocked on that drumline, dude. But to be totally honest, the thing that got my attention were those dancers... my oh my oh my. The fact that you guys could still play with them around makes me respect your abilities that much more.

I guess I was wrong about Wake. They played much better than I thought they would. Their defense was especially impressive. Not sure that UL gave them their best shot though.

Their QB was ON that night. And Urrutia was pretty off. Still, it was an entertaining game, which is really what everyone was hoping for. I mean, us UofL fans would've loved a massacre, sure, but I love a good game just as much if not more, especially a bowl game.

Have to tell you...you were the talk of the staff meeting today!

 Was I really?
