Individually Ben Toothlessburger was a very big disappointment. However...This kills me..........

Carson choked down the stretch and if he had been pro-bowl form the last 3 games they would have won 2 of them. He really let me down, and I'm the biggest Carson fan I know.

As a team, the Steelers were un-led by their QB to the average-land. Returning Super Bowl teams typically but I'm sure Steeler fans thought they could do great things this year with virtually the same team they've had the past 2 years.

The Seahawks were a dsappointment, but think of their injuries, Hasselback, Alexander. Tough to win games without the league MVP from a year ago, and your All Pro Quarterback, JMO though!

They went 2-1 with both Hasselbeck and Alexander out...

Their biggest woes of the season came when both were playing...

I would say Pittsburgh in the AFC. I predicted the Bengals to get 3rd in the AFC North so they over achieved in my book.

NFC would have to be Carolina, who could not win in the weak conference.

Has to be the Bengals,I was thinking Superbowl during preseason, and look at them now,no playoffs. No, I take that back, they will be watching the playoffs

on TV.

The same team, PLEASE!!!!!!! Retired the 5th place all time rusher, Our special team player and athlete Randel EL gone. Big receiver Burgess gone. Troy, a pro bowler out several games and not healthy several others. Ward out for several games. ? about our QB getting over his motorcycle accident. Not even close my friend.

I wouldn't call them the biggest disappointment, but how about the Arizona Cardinals? With all the talent they've added, and the opening of their new stadium, they must have been feeling optimistic heading into the season. Then they lose that devastating Monday night game to Chicago (the Bears are who we thought they were  ) in the middle of an 8-game losing streak and they end up 5-11.

Two words can sum up all of the Cardinals' woes past, present, and future.

You're right, the defending Super Bowl Champions who had the best record in football(I think) the previous year going .500 and not making the playoffs wasn't a disappointment and shouldn't be mentioned.....  WOW that's some kind of backwards logic. How about Fast Willie going crazy this year? He had huge numbers this year. With HUGE rushing numbers and a GREAT defense the Steelers should not have finished 8-8. They had some health issues and other issues but not even close to what other teams(Bengals) had. I didn't expect the Bengals to realistically make the playoffs this year(I probably predicted them to in threads but if I did it was wishful thinking). With the off field trouble and division championship schedule, and with Baltimore acquiring McNair, I as a die-hard Bengals fan, expected the Ravens and Steelers to go to the playoffs. If you weren't disappointed by the Steelers you must have been watching tape from last January.

Willie Parker was the primary rusher last year, Ben was the QB, Ward was the primary target, injuries (not even an entire year????) happen in football. That motorcycle accident didn't make Ben bad, he's just bad. Losing Bettis hurt at the goalline, and losing Randle El hurt on special teams and offense, and yes the injuries did hurt, but the Steelers returned A TON of talent and should have done better than 8-8.

I just went back and read some of the prediction forums and the Steelers got a lot of hype from the Steeler faithful, as did the Bengals from the Bengal faithful. I can't believe someone posted that the Steelers did not have a disappointing season.

Burress wasn't around in Pittsburgh last season...

No one has been able to change my mind on the Steelers. From Super Bowl champs to being eliminated from the playoffs after Game 15 (or whatever it was). Cases can be made for others, but the Steelers can hardly be compared to, say, the 1998 Florida Marlins - there was no housecleaning on that grand a scale.

Disappointing season, sure! Same team, no. Anytime you make it to the SB and win it and don't even return to the playoffs has to be disappointing. Then again they weren't the same team. I believe getting Bettis to the SB was a big motovator last season and it didn't seem to be there this season. Losing to the Raiders for heaven sake did them in IMO. I'll continue to be a huge Steeler fan and continue to think every year is their year to win it all. That's just what fans do. We hyped them both up to be the teams to beat and we all fell short. Always next year............................LTW.

BTW.,about Burress, someone had said they had the same team for the last two years and that's why I included him.

They went 2-1 with both Hasselbeck and Alexander out...

It has been obvious all year that Alexander is not the same player health wise for a year ago.
