  1. I should also mention Taft is an "inner city" school that just started their football program back up about 5 or 6 years ago. By the way, I found their bright yellow jerseys with green numbers and bright yellow pants to quite gaudy and ugly, but whoever did this is still wrong!
  2. Great win for the Lancers! I wish I had gone to this game now. The GCL South may come down to a battle of the two teams on North Bend Road. FYI, LaSalle High School: 3091 North Bend Road St. Xavier High School: 600 W. North Bend Road
  3. This game involved two non-Kentucky teams, but I believe the story is worth telling. Just hours before the game between Taft and Withrow, a suspicious fire burned all of the Taft uniforms. The uniforms are kept in a locked room that is only used on gamedays. Fortunately, several schools offered to let the Senators borrow their uniforms. They took 2004 Division I state champ Colerain up on the offer, so they took the field in their own green helmets, white jerseys with red numbers and "COLERAIN" in Red, and red pants. During halftime, an unspecified community group made a donation to help replace the uniforms. Also, local restauranteur Jeff Ruby pledged to pay for new uniforms. A disturbing story, that someone would do such a thing, but it was nice to see the support of others to help them out. As for the game, Withrow led 19-0 before the Senators made a furious rally that came up one point short.
  4. From attending this game, I was quite impressed with the UC defense. The offense has some work to do, but they could be quite strong when they get the running game going with the three-headed running back monster of Glatthaar, Benton, and Moore. It was a weird game. You don't expect to see a team with negative rushing yards as of the third quarterhave a sizable lead. They finally went into positive figures to stay late in the third quarter. Granted, the Bearcats lost about 30 rushing yards on two bad shotgun snaps early in the game to create the large negative number, but they still didn't run the ball well. Six interceptions by the defense certainly helps make up for it! How about the 55-yard field goal by the same redshirt freshman kicker who missed two extra points in the last game? Coach Kelly said he'd be playing on the soccer team i he had another game like that! I have to give props to Coach Kelly for having the confidence in his kicker to try that field goal. Go Bearcats! Beat Miami!
  5. I'm having trouble uploading the picture, but I just noticed the Sports Illustrated college football preview on my coffee table. Mike Hart is on the cover. SI cover jinx strikes again!
  6. I hope ESPN makes this an "Instant Classic" so I can watch it.
  7. Already been, Southeast Missouri State at UC.
  8. I can't say I'm with you on this one. Should be a great game to watch, but I don't see Florida losing this game. This is assuming they get past my mom's alma mater, Jackson State...
  9. Nice win for the Bearcats. I only caught the last three minutes of overtime on the radio. Good thing I taped the game. I think I'll go watch it right now.
  10. Tressel is 0-2, having lost to South Carolina in his first year. The other six losses belong to Cooper, against South Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and I guess one more than is escaping me. I think all of them were in either the Florida Citrus Bowl or the other bowl that is now called the Outback Bowl.
  11. It could be worse. You could be a Browns fan like me.
  12. Hmmm...no updates for a little while. It's now 23-8, and the Colts just intercepted a pass. About 6 minutes left and the Colts have the ball near midfield.
  13. I wouldn't call them the biggest disappointment, but how about the Arizona Cardinals? With all the talent they've added, and the opening of their new stadium, they must have been feeling optimistic heading into the season. Then they lose that devastating Monday night game to Chicago (the Bears are who we thought they were  ) in the middle of an 8-game losing streak and they end up 5-11.
  14. Well, the Ravens would lead the North at 9-3. Patriots (8-3) lead the East, Colts (10-1) lead the South, Chargers (9-2) lead the West. Wildcard standings: Broncos 7-4 Chiefs 7-4 Bengals 7-5 Jets 6-5 Jaguars 6-5 It didn't look good for the Bengals a few weeks ago, but the race has tightened up a bit. Also, the Bengals would win a tiebreaker over the Chiefs. They still have a game against the Broncos, though it's in Denver.
  15. Can anyone explain why Michigan kicked the ball from the left hash on the PAT from the touchdown early in the 4th quarter (made the score 35-31)? I assumed that on PAT's the ball was spotted in the middle of the field. That makes a tough angle for a right-footed kicker.
  16. I was one of those 27,804 in attendance. That is actually the largest crowd at Nippert Stadium all year. Even though I would like to have seen a few thousand more there, it was a very enthusiastic crowd tonight and it made for a gret atmosphere. I am glad to have been a part of UC history!
  17. How about calling an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after it's happened a couple of times.
  18. Oh, this is Columbus DeSales, not the one in Kentucky! I thought this was a huge upset when I saw the title. My face looked something like this  . In that case, it's not a big upset at all. They are a strong program that typically plays a very tough schedule.
  19. CHCA lost in the Division V title game to Hamler Patrick Henry. I think the score was 42-30. Not bad for a school that has only been open for 10 years!
  20. St. X interception! Returned to 4-yard line! Looks like the D-I title will be won by a Cincinnati school for the 4th year in a row! Bombers take a knee! It's over! St. Xavier wins 24-17! :dancingpa
  21. Tigers take possession at their own 25, 1:22 left, no timeouts. Cincinnati St. Xavier 24 Massillon Washington 17
