December 31, 200619 yr You can discount whatever you want. I am not concerned about Brian's performance, you guys are. I have known Brian since he was in 7th grade, playing the OL, and have seen him play QB in about 65-70 games (all of them), I am not at all concerned about his ability or where he fits nationally, especially since it's at or near the top. I think Brohm is a great quarterback. Its just that you were quick to point out how well he did against the #5 ranked defense in the country in only one half. You were just as quick to discount Clemson's defensive ranking because they play in the ACC. Since both Clemson and Miami play in the same conference then either a) Miami's defense isn't all that because the ACC is so bad or b) Clemson's defense is very good since it is a top 20 defense. Which is it? I just want to know.

December 31, 200619 yr Clemson is very similar to LSU this year, other than Clemson tanked late in the year. LSU may be the most talented team in the country, but couldn't even make the title game, same for Clemson who beat both Wake Forest and Georiga Tech in the ACC final. Clemson was practically a double digit favorite and were down 22 points with a little over 7 minutes to play. They were handled Friday. Exact opposites actually. Clemson started out hot and limped into their bowl (thats why they played in December in Nashville). LSU struggled early and really came on at the end of the season, hence an at large BCS bid with two losses. I would also point out that while Clemson lost to the Cats, well we all know the rest of this story.:devil:

I thought it was spineless from the beginning, but as long as they put two patsies in front of the Cards, all should be well.

But they are losing three of them, and the cupboard is not exactly busting with talent behind those. Losing Jones and Miller before the season started was arguably losing their top 2 OLinemen. Leading the SEC in passing with those two gone is pretty impressive and I think you have to give props to Joker. As bad as the play calling was against Louisville, it was pretty outstanding from the next game out. I remember going off my rocker about UK not throwing any screens etc the UofL game to get their athletes the ball. I think it's fair to say he adapted and used UK's talent the best he could the rest of the year.

In the past Brooks whined that UofL had an advatage due to the fact that they played in a bowl game and had practiced on into December. Thats been solved. I still think the Cards win, but thats JMO.
January 1, 200719 yr A 5-7 season would be a setback, but to me it wouldn't indicate a step backwards. The schedule is certainly tougher next year, and getting back to 8 wins would be amazing. Going under 5-7 would be pretty bad. UK would have to botch a game pretty badly to not get 5 wins. Even if they miss a bowl game next year, Brooks deserves another season. If he misses a bowl game the next 2 years, it'll be time for a new coach. Why are you all saying this I think UK can compete for an SEC Championship next year all of the tough games except one or two are at home.
