One of those classic, game wasn't as close as the score indicated games. Score was 28-6 before the Cats went into that stupid prevent defense. Final score was as you said but it was closer than it should have been.
December 31, 200619 yr I agree....but they are losing 3 OL, and don't have much depth behind them....a QB that's not that mobile....it could be sack central, or rushed throws. LSUrock - Jacob Tamme is listed at 6'5'' 240. I'm not sure how "small" that really is. Kentucky has had enough problems protecting the QB this year. The depth chart for this year looked like this (according to UK's website) as of November 19th: LT - Garry Williams - Soph LG - Christian Johnson - Soph C - Matt McCutchan - Senior RG - Eric Scott - JR (Backup Center) RT - Michael Aitcheson - Senior I'd imagine Eric Scott will move to Center, which will allow Justin Jeffries to start at the RT spot.

However, a 75th ranked pass defense versus the 9th ranked passing offense could lead to a very interesting game. In addition Louisville loses 16.5 sacks from that defense as well as 4 of its top 5 leading tacklers, 5 of its 11 passes defensed, and 5 out of its 11 interceptions according to the UL website. UK will have their hands full stopping the Cards but the Cards shutting down the Cats offense will be far from a given next year.

Yes the final score was 8 points but UK was the far superior team that day, Bowden admitted as much and all the Clemson fans I encountered in Nashville felt the same way. It isn't as though UK was lucky to win.

Kentucky was on the verge of blowing Clemson out. At one point Kentucky was a TD away from making this an ugly game for Clemson. Clemson is a talented team and everyone at ESPN was shocked that Kentucky was even able to hang around with Clemson in the 1st half. What they failed to mention is that Kentucky competed with teams as good or better than Clemson on a weekly basis in the SEC.
December 31, 200619 yr Louisville lost 20.5 sacks from last year's team to this one....it is becoming a reloading issue on the front line. I think the loss of Gay will be huge in their game next year. He had 5 of their 11 interceptions and his ability to shut down one side of the field was a big reason for UL's success in making those sacks and overall defensive success. You also have to keep in mind that Woodson will have made 14 more collegiate starts since he faced UL last and should have a 10-4 record entering next year's game. He will be much better equipped to deal with UL's pressure.
