Are Boyle and Lincoln the teams to beat on the 12th region?

Featured Replies

Boyle lost Gillis, Owen Barnes tore his ACL, Tommy Zeismer is not playing, Sage Dawson is not playing, Lincoln County and Pulaski County are the favorites.

I can say 100% that this is not the case at Boyle. I was in that coaches office when one of the players listed above said that they were not going to play basketball. All of the coaches in that office

Gillis played against South Oldham? He's not showing on their stat sheet on the KHSAA site. @Rebelstatcan you confirm or deny this?

Gillis did NOT play against South Oldham.

Sorry - I was typing too fast and my keyboard has a tendency to lock up for a moment when I type fast.    So I inadvertently omitted the word "not".

I called the game; he wasn't on the floor.

Gillis is enrolling at Campbellsville University next month. So he's graduating early.

So some football players chose not to come out.  Interesting.  I always thought football coaches wanted their guys playing multiple sports.  Guess not at Boyle County.

Lincoln and Boyle will be your 1 and 2 seeds in the 45th. Garrard, DCA and Danville will be some interesting matchups to watch.

Danville needs to find some scoring to be successful. Who will step up out of that Freshman Sophomore class?

Boyle losing Barnes and Gillis really hurts. They will continue to improve with Imfield and Tarter back.

Pulaski adding Stevens is significant for them and will boost their chances at winning the 47th. Maroons be a tough out come region tourney time.

I'm not sold on Boyle being the #2 seed just yet. I think Danville and Garrard County can challenge for the #2 Spot. Danville and Boyle split last year and Garrard had Danville beat twice last year but fell apart late in both games. Also, hearing Danville has no Sophomores, one Senior, two Juniors and four Freshman, starting 3 of those Freshman.

Didn't know any of this. Gillis and Barnes are big losses. That definitely drops Boyle a slot or two in the pecking order, although they are well coached and will still be a tough out come postseason.

No, Pulaski Co. is right there.  I would almost favor them because of their size across the board.  They're all 6"2-6"4, and can switch everything defensively.  Rebounding the basketball and scoring against them is a daunting task for most teams in this region.  Zack Travis and Gavin Stevens is a physical/dynamic duo for the Maroons.

Pulaski County has a very good basketball team.

Gillis is not playing basketball this year.  From my understanding he will be leaving for college the next semester.  Some more players are not playing that I think should.

Well from what I heard some players were told not to play and concentrate on football.  Coaches should not be telling them to not play and to concentrate on one sport.  I think that if you want to play any high school sport you should play.  If, you don't you will regret not playing, I know because I wish I would have.  Plus, I talked to one who played football this year for the first time.   He told me he wishes he would've played football all 4 years.

Now I do not believe that Coach Haddix would tell any of his players to not play any other sport.  I think he is a Coach that believes that any sport would help all kids in their life's.

Let me also say that what I was told could be far from the truth and I believe that any Coach at Boyle would want the kids to play all the sports they could.  The Coaches are there to help the kids and I believe that all the football coaches love seeing those kids play other sports.   All the coaches at Boyle have all the kid's interest at heart.  Once you're a Rebel you're a Rebel for life.

I do believe that Boyle (5-1) and Lincoln (6-0) are the team to beat in the 12 region.  Pulaski Co. (7-0) is play really good right now and showing that they should be one team to watch out for.

Pulaski County is 7-0 and playing without last years leading scorer Barek Williams. When he gets back PC will be a force! Lincoln County and Pulaski County will be there at the end IMO.
