December 31, 200619 yr Right I visit UK boards on occasion and I know for a fact that there was a very vocal group of fans that were calling for Brooks' head after he lost to Louisville yet again and after some of the lackluster wins against "bought" wins. He is just a few losses from having his head on the block again. And if you check the facts Brooks has an overall losing record. When you spend the vast majority of your coaching career rebuilding programs then a lossing record is misleading. Look at his record after his first 5 to 6 years at Oregon and now he has UK winnning 8 games in his 4 season without a full compliment of scholarships.
December 31, 200619 yr I don't have to brag about UK's schedule, it is ranked 12th nationally. I think many, yourself included, are discounting some pretty good wins by UK. Central Michigan was a quality opponent, Georgia beat Va. Tech last night, and Clemson was ranked 10th at one point. Put UK in a lesser conference like, well lets say the Big East and there would be no need to schedule Texas St. or UL Monroe because there would be comparable teams on their conference schedule. Please understand I'm not taking shots at UofL or anyone else. But UK started the season with basically 5 losses (UL, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Georgia), 2 certain wins (Texas St., UL Monroe), and 5 toss ups (South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Cent. Michigan, Vandy,). I think winning 8 games was quite a feat. Georgia and Clemson were GOOD wins.

December 31, 200619 yr They have been in the Top 5 for most of the season....If they win this game, and do much of the same next year, the are in that breath, I hate to bust your bubble. Your bubble is busted...if you think UL was in top 5 most of the season... UL spent a grand total of 4 weeks in the AP top 5 all year. I would not say that classifies as most of the season. Heck they practically spent more time out of the top 10 than being in the top 5, 3 out and once in at 10.
December 31, 200619 yr I'm an SEC guy first and foremost, but I've got to say that the Big East gained some cred this season. UofL and WVU were good teams again this year. USF is pretty good also. I also think Rutgers is a darn good team. Rutgers would beat a number of traditional power conference teams.

I don't see how you can knock that schedule as there are many out there that are far worse.

I just think it was a little early to be making plans for next year. There is an old saying in sports that one "should act like you've been there". Its hard if you haven't, but try.
January 1, 200719 yr Cincinnati didn't think so I give credit where credit is due. I saw Cincy play this year and they were good enough to get their coach a Big-Ten job. Cincy has a pretty good defense as well. The fact is that every year the NCAA gets more and more parity.
