Beechwood has thrown the ball this season.  I didn't say South Warren was not an outstanding football team.  They just won a State Championship !!  Plus, none of this matters as it is all hypothetical.  However, If you think Beechwood would stand no chance of beating SW, then you are crazy.  I think Boyle, LCA, Beechwood and South Warren are all very close together.  I like Boyle's chances against any of them, including LCA a second time around.  I think ST.X and Male are above those 4 but not as far above as many on here think.

I just wouldn’t brag, about any teams accomplishments, that’s brought back fifth year seniors. I would be embarrassed.

Good gosh do you need a cookie with all of this crying?  Why would they be embarrassed? If you have a problem with this rule email Julian Tackett. I’m sure he would love to hear from you.

Why?  KHSAA said that this could happen.   Some players took advantage of the rule change that the KHSAA approved.  

I'm not embarrassed one tiny little bit.  I've been walking around Titletown with my head up and thumping my chest when I feel it's needed and bragging to who ever would listen to me.

If allowed, do you believe that South Warren wouldn't have taken 5th year kids that wanted to stay? I may be wrong but wasn't that a district decision not a coaching decision?

Despite all of that I can’t rank Beechwood or LCA above the 4A or 5A state champs.  More often than not they lose those games.    South Warren proved they aren’t CovCath.

Me either PP92 and I am throwing Trinity in there too, I don't think Beechwood or LCA would have beat Trinity this year.

Beechwood is a great team, but they wouldn't have beaten South Warren. The reason is mainly due to Beechwood's offense. In the state championship game, Beechwood had only 58 passing yards. Against Mayfield, they passed for 47. When they played Covington Catholic, they had 37 passing yards. Beechwood is a rushing team. The only way to put points on the board against South is through the air.

In the last 4 games of the season, South Warren allowed 47 rushing yards by Frederick Douglas. 47 rushing yards from Woodford County (with 2nd string in for 1+ quarters). 49 rushing yards from South Oldham. 5 rushing yards from Bowling Green. 

Beechwood would not have rushed for more than 50 yards against South Warren. No way possible. I highly doubt that they would've been able to pass for more yards than they did against Covington Catholic, South's defense is much better than CC's. So, we are realistically looking at under 100 yards of total offense from Beechwood. South would probably beat Beechwood by at least 3 scores.

I'm not disparaging the coaching at Beechwood. They definitely have a great coach. I think the players are highly skilled too. South is just a bigger school and has more students to draw talent from. I also think that the matchup based upon offense and defense styles highly favors South.

I do think Boyle would give South a lot of problems though.

Don't go by the title game versus LCA. The Beechwood game plan in that game was run the ball and control the clock. Hergott threw for over 2,300 yards, 68% complete, 32 TD's and only 4 INT's.

I love South Warren.  Brandon is a Rebel and his dad is the founder of what Boyle now is.  I just know how good LCA is and how well Beechwood played them.  Boyle was the team at the end of the season because of that LCA loss.  I also have watched the Boyle/FD game maybe 3 times and the score didn't even show just how bad Boyle dominated them.  I watched the SW/FD game and fully expected SW to win and was impressed by the D and really liked Veltkamp.  I don't know, maybe it's because I saw Beechwood live and the 5a game on the tv.  I could be totally wrong and maybe SW would beat all of them.  I think Boyle/SW would be a great game but I also think Beechwood/SW would be a great game.

Boyle would beat South Warren convincingly.

I also think Boyle/SW would be a great game. I'm not going to argue the winner of that one. Boyle definitely played a better game against FD than SW did. I think there are a few reasons for that. First, I think FD came into the Boyle game thinking that they were the top team in the state and had no idea what was waiting for them. In the same way that the LCA game made Boyle better, I would think that FD's loss to Boyle made them a little better too.

The other reason I think Boyle had more success on defense is their pass coverage. I think Boyle has a significantly better secondary as compared to South. That's where FD had all of their success in the championship game.. However, I think South's run game might be a little better.

Like the owl on the old commercial asks how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop…
