The 1-9 Aggies of New Mexico fresh off their 59-3 loss at Alabama come to take on the 7-3 Kentucky Wildcats the game is on the SEC Network at 12:00pm. It should give the UK staff a chance to look at some of the other players in this one.

Are these games scheduled to ensure bowl eligibility or give teams a virtual bye during the stretch run of the season?  Alabama should be dropped a place in the CFP poll strictly for scheduling that game.

I always used to say that UKs thinking was route 3 MAC schools, and hope they could steal 2 or 3 SEC wins, and maybe Louisville to get bowl eligible.   But they are better than that now.

Back when this schedule was made a few years ago, I guess they didn't know how good UK would be.

Why not? Paying them a ton of money to come to play. They are D1.....not a whole lot of folks lining up to play Alabama. Big Ten, Pac 12 etc right in the middle of conference play. Who do you suggest? These schedules are usually done 5-6 years out. Sure not like HS.

I have no issues with scheduling a game like this in August or Early Sept.  They don't have preseason, so the first game or 2 is your chance to install your game plan and iron out any bugs.  Post that, the Power 5's should only play each other and / or stick to the conference.   Outside of avoiding a major injury, SEC teams, at this point of the season, gain nothing by beating up on NM St (or South Alabama (looking at you Tennessee) or Charleston Southern (Georgia)).

Granted Samford had Florida on the ropes, but the Gators are having an epically rough year.

Maybe their conference affiliation and scheduling wouldn't allow it. The are all three in different conferences. Many conferences have agreements with others for regular season and bowls.
