Nail on the head....

I've coached a different sport for 15 years at the high school level.  Hundreds of athletes.  Successful programs..... ONE D1 athlete....

You may be right. However, so many people completely misunderstand exactly how good someone must be to truly be a D1 talent. A player can be a great high school player and still not be close to a D1 p

Kind of funny, but worked in the reverse for me with my son.  Many people felt he had Division 1 potential as a kicker and yet there was nobody calling.  The best I could figure was we did not go to these kicking camps that rate players due to cost and fact he tore his labrum in his junior year.  Also played baseball in summer of younger years.  However, he ended up at Lindsey Wilson College where he kicked for four years right out of high school which would not have happened at D1 level.  Someone said you don’t realize the talent needed to play at any collegiate level until you see it or experience it first hand.

I agree with the ongoing theme.  If a boy can play at the next level and gets a percentage of school pay for sign me up.  I wouldn’t play if the money isn’t right to much time and taxing on the body.  I also laugh at the D1 talent.  It is hard at the NAIA and D2 level.  Most go academic route d3 with more consideration of aide because of said sport.
