History won't repeat itself.

Mayfield can make a statement by beating Caldwell really bad on the road this week. That doesnt need to be close if Mayfield is for real. LCA is a clear number 1 contender, followed by Beechwood, then Mayfield, then a mountain below them is the rest of 2A this year.

The Dragons are pretty solid. I think they could beat everyone in class 2a not named Beechwood, LCA, or Mayfield. I do think the Dragons could be competitive with Mayfield but would say they are a 2-3 touchdown favorite over the Dragons.

I’m all for Beechwood staying #1 unless they take a loss but if we are comparing body of work so far this season it’s not even close. LCA has played, at the time they played, the #1 4a team, #1 3a team, and #1 1A team. Some are saying that this past Friday’s win vs Pikeville was not that impressive. Pikeville is a stout team and would be at least a top 4 team in 2A. To come out of their 6 game schedule undefeated to start the season is an impressive accomplishment. I think you have to look at the total body of work, to include not being at 100% strength for 2 of those games. Add to that, that many say Beechwood’s best win, Cov Cath, is against a team that was beat by Lex Cath. A team LCA running clocked in the 1st half.
