The mountains invade Lexington to run with the Devils (cue Van Halen)

Records: Season opener for both teams

BGP Ranking: Johnson Central (#1 in 4A), Henry Clay (unranked in 6A)

Series History: Johnson Central leads 2-0 all-time

Table Setter: The Golden Eagles will kick off their 2021 campaign in the same city they hope to finish it in. JC's might and muscle is bound for Lexington to meet Henry Clay in a contrast of styles. Johnson Central has become renowned for its physicality and north/south run heavy philosophy, while the Blue Devils can always be counted on to have as much speed and quickness as anyone in central Kentucky. Mason Lawson looks primed to assume the role of the next great JC running back after complimenting Dylan Preston last year. He should find ample running room behind a mammoth offensive line that features UK commit Grant Bingham. Linebacker Mason Lemaster is back to lead an experienced defense that has to replace very little from last year.

Henry Clay has to replace by far its most productive offensive player from last season, but with the athletes that typically suit up for the Blue Devils, playmakers are never hard to find. A big play is sometimes just a snap away, but being consistent and moving the chains will be key for Coach Gay's squad. Also key, will be replacing numerous starters on defense. They'll be put to the test at the line of scrimmage by Johnson Central's offensive front.

JC has run off eight straight 10 win seasons, while Henry Clay followed up a winless season in 2019 with just two wins last year.

JC may rush for 1000yds.

Running clock before halftime. While Bryan Station and PLD are improving and getting a lot better. However, Lafayette, Tates Creek , and Henry Clay still have a long way to go unfortunately.

Felt like Henry Clay made a small step forward last season. They were in need of a coaching change (it had gotten stale) and hopefully Gay can get them back to a high level. That said, this might not be the best game for the Blue Devils in week one.

I feel like Clay is a question mark that could trend upward pretty quickly! But I have NO clue about their offensive weapons... They have some nice pieces on defense, but I haven't gotten any tips of what to look for on offense!

Johnson Central 35-7.
