Bracken seems like they're continually in a tough spot with coaching hires.

Chuck Faust was let go mid-season in '08.

Bruce Jones was hired in '09, and he stepped down right at the end of April of that year.

ndrew McIntosh was hired away from Brossart for a couple of years, and then he left and was replaced in late-May '11 by Kevin Siple.

Then Siple left in late-May '12 for Grant County, and they hired Mike Sizemore.

Sizemore left in late February '17 for Clay County, and Dave Brausch was hired in mid-April.

Brausch left in early-May '19, and they hired Tim Carver in late-June.

Now here we are, back in late-April, looking for a new coach. 

His position in the school was cut for the 2021-22 school year due to COVID staffing issues.

Sizemore did a really nice job there, including getting a home playoff game. From the outside looking in, they've never really got over his departure.

Brausch did a good job for two seasons.  We were lucky to find a coach like Mike Sizemore.  He did a tremendous job and is doing very well at Clay County now.  

They don't care about football there.

The school is faced with some budget cuts due to the pandemic and extra requirements in the school and Carver’s position in the school will not be available for the 2021-22 school year.

“First off, it’s not anything performance based,” Bracken County Athletic Director Daniel Fisher said. “Coach Carver took over a program that was impacted by graduation and guided the program through a demanding and rough time during the pandemic season. He genuinely cared about his kids. His heart was in it. The record doesn’t reflect the amount of time he put in.”

Fisher stated the “door is open” for a possible return for Carver if a position in the school becomes available and the interest is still mutual.

This is accurate. They’ve now let two coaches go in a row for non football reasons, and every other team has seen significant upgrades in their facilities since 2010 while football has seen nothing.

 

Football is an afterthought for most of the administration and all of the community. Sad.

The last time I talked to Coach Carver about his team, he was excited about his upcoming class and felt he had arranged a competitive schedule based on his current team. Unfortunate circumstances here.

Now I'm hearing the weight room is closed due to Covid concerns in the community. Sucks for the players.

I would think if the district wanted to keep Coach Carver they would find him a position in the district. Always the easiest way for a district to go in a different direction by saying their job was cut. Districts have and should protect good coaches!! A lot of turnover in coaching positions in Brooksville.

They’ve found jobs for the last two basketball coaches. But haven’t managed to find a job for a coach who wants to be there and wants to coach football.

The proof is in the pudding at Bracken County High School.
