Died today at 99 years old; and after having been married to QEII since 1947, that makes him the longest-serving royal consort in British history.

I watched a news report on Prince Philip and it was absolutely glowing.

I would have to guess - especially with all of the interest in the Royal Family that has come about as a result of The Crown in Netflix - that Prince Philip's funeral is going to be a MAJOR international spectacle.

I saw a report that said it was going to be private and that Prince Philip wasn't a big fan of spectacles. 

I have no idea if that is all true.

That's pretty interesting. He definitely did seem to take a more behind-the-scenes role as he got older, but in his younger days he was one of the driving forces behind having the Royal Family front and center in front of cameras.

The Prince was a big fan of Ufology, according to the Metro the Duke was fascinated with close encounters and had amassed a sizeable collection of books on the subject.

Don't want to seem morbid, but you often hear stories about how when couples are together for so long, that when one of them eventually does pass away, the other one soon takes a turn for the worse, as well.  Wonder if this is a concern for Queen Elizabeth II?
