Basketball has been the top sport there and Cal could get him a huge cowboy hat and buy a big ranch there somewhere.

I don't care if Texas went 0-12 every season the last decade, it is still a football school. To say it has been a basketball school is only speaking to on-court/field results. Which Texas basketball hasn't been any better than it's football program the past decade, imo. Going to the NCAA tournament and losing the first or second round is anything special.

My reference was directed at the last 10-12 years, my friend that lives in Austin said football was second choice among fans there and basketball was on top and baseball very popular there as well.

Your friend may be right. However, the only thing that matters is what is first choice among donors. And the big money donors view Texas as football first and everything else second.
March 26, 20215 yr Just don't see Texas being able to overcome Calipari's massive contract here to entice him to come. That'd be some kind of budget breaking deal.
