What does the Casali signing do to any chance Luke Maile has for prime time opportunities.

Certainly reduces his opportunity but I think the Reds will carry 3 catchers this season so he should be on the team.

Luke has his first start for the Reds tonight!

Unfortunately, 0-4 with 1 K.   But it's only his first game of the season.

One of my friends texted me after Luke's first at bat:

"He did do the most Cincinnati Reds thing he could do...grounded into a double play with runners on...so he is OFFICIALLY a Red."

I read reports multiple times talking about how important of a presence Luke was in the Reds clubhouse this past season. With the Reds and Joey Votto having every appearance of parting ways at this point, I have to think that keeping a player like Luke in the clubhouse was a decently high priority for the team.

Did they resign him as a pitcher or catcher.LOL

The Reds finally did something correct.

No surprise. I thought he had a very solid season for the Reds.

Lol, he's pitched in 7 MLB games - 2 for the Blue Jays, 1 for the Brewers, and 4 for the Reds. 3 career strikeouts, all for the Jays. ?

It seems rather Major League Jake Taylory, but it's based in truth.   A veteran catcher is never a bad thing to have on your club.

Assuming that is with 7 no decisions?   LOL

Luke signed with the Royals after being released by the Reds after the 2024 season and has been playing in the Royals minor league organization. He was called back up on May 2 by the Royals and had his first start this past Sunday against the Orioles. He went 1 for 3 with a walk and a homerun.

A serviceable backup catcher is a valuable commodity.
