Coming into this game Central was 6-1 with victories over Fairdale (also 6-1 with wins over N Oldham, Iroquois, N Bullitt, DeSales, Hancock Co. Shelby Co.) and Elizabethtown.

 

Not trying to make too much of this except to say the Central has a decent squad. :thumb:

 

DeSales has been in Regional finals last 3 or so years & are expecting to get there again this year & maybe to Rupp ! Great job Rose Hill & congrats. Now lets see Russell pull thru in 5th 3rd and get Elliott in KOB & or 5th3rd or both next year along with Rose Hill

Shooterx3 was right on target in his prediction at halftime of the Rose Hill-Ballard game. I believe he will be on target again with the Rose Hill-Doss game.

 

According to the preseason predictions, Doss is #1 in the 6th Region and has the two top players in the region. Ballard is #1 in the 7th Region and is obviously one of the two or three teams favored to win the state.

 

All of this is good experience for the young Royals and, with all due respect to our neighbors, better for the team than playing all the locals week in and week out. You get better by playing better teams and the KOB has more than its share of better teams.

I don't know about anyone else but I would consider this a pretty big upset. Central is athletic and Have a very deep and talented bench and should challenge for a 6th region title.

It was an upset, but primarily because of Central's horrible shooting and decision-making. Central is probably a bit young to win the 6th Region this year, but they are dangerous and could be a top-10 team next season.

Wrong. Central does not have a bench. They have 2 scorers and rotate one or two at most off the bench and those two play limited minutes just to give a starter a break. The games I saw McGee did not start. Must be a disciplinary issue. This is a mild upset. Central beat E-Town but hasn't 2 or 3 other teams beat them. Adair nearly beat E-Town at home as well. Wins over St. Francis and Portland Christian should not be considered quality victories. Valley is way down and they are 1 win and 4 losses in the 6th region and the one win came against a church team. This is NOT a major upset. Rose Hill held Skeens to 16 points and baffled McGee with fouls and him forcing shots. McGee finished with 7 points. Rose Hill won. Central has one quality win this season.

According to the KHSAA site Central is now 6-2 following their losses to Warren Central and Rose Hill.

 

You missed a win by Central over Glenn, NC at East Ridge in the Farm Bureau Classic, which would have made Central 6-1 prior to their game with Rose Hill.

It was obvious that Euton, among others, didn't have his shooting touch. Rose Hill had trouble dealing with Central's quickness, which I suspect was the root cause of most of it. The Jackets squandered their advantage with undisciplined play.

No question that Central's quickness has something to do with Rose Hill's poor shooting. I think that Rose Hill's size effected Central. The game was won and lost at the foul line. I don't remember the exact numbers, maybe Fastbreak can help us out, but Rose Hill made quite a few more than Central and shot quite a few less.

I am curious. Does anyone know why Russell is not playing Rose Hill during the Season? I am a Russelldad in football not basketball, but I do follow the team, and it just surprises me that as close as the two schools are to each other and as talented as it seems both schools are this year, why they are not on each other's schedule. Russell is playing everyone else in their region (exception being Fleming,Menifee). I have always been of the opinion that it is better to play as many of region competition that you can during the season, so that if you do meet at Morehead, you have a better feel for their style of play and players. But maybe I'm wrong.

Then you add in tournaments like the 5/3 or the KOB and you run out of space real quick. The one thing that Russell might want to consider is playing Ashland once instead of twice and slide Rose Hill into that spot. Of course it wouldn't help this year but in the future.
