All you missed is that Rose Hill is 5-2 and a legitimate threat and here we go again. Anyone with half a brain could have seen it coming.

 

There is a positive correlation between the number of Rose Hill victories and the amount of whinning that goes on in the 16th region. I just hope they can cry a lake full come February.

Actually all of this started with a Russell fan simply asking why RH and Russell were not playing this year. I don't think that was whining.

 

This is not quite the nourishing and compassionate response one would expect from Friendship Drive.

Wrong. Central does not have a bench. They have 2 scorers and rotate one or two at most off the bench and those two play limited minutes just to give a starter a break. The games I saw McGee did not start. Must be a disciplinary issue. This is a mild upset. Central beat E-Town but hasn't 2 or 3 other teams beat them. Adair nearly beat E-Town at home as well. Wins over St. Francis and Portland Christian should not be considered quality victories. Valley is way down and they are 1 win and 4 losses in the 6th region and the one win came against a church team. This is NOT a major upset. Rose Hill held Skeens to 16 points and baffled McGee with fouls and him forcing shots. McGee finished with 7 points. Rose Hill won. Central has one quality win this season.

Correct, the first stone was thrown from the glass house in post #31. Rickyp tried to dillute the situation and that didn't work.

Remember, it's Friendship Drive, not Punchingbag Drive. And I feel you have been more than treated compassionately. Your on your own for the nourishment. Sunday School starts @ 9:45.

As spindoc stated I simply answered a scheduling question in generic term and made suggestion that Russell only play Ashland, and out of district opponent, once. I never suggested or hinted that anyone was ducking or dodging, which by the way I don't think they are.

 

If Rose Hill was 2-5, then the post that followed would have had a different tint and that I feel certain of.

I think there is much truth in what Rickyp has stated.

 

It is certainly true that the gate swings in both directions. However, there is a major difference (as I explained earlier) in how Rose Hill handles the losses and how our neighbors handle the losses. It would be difficult for anyone to argue that Rose Hill has lost many more than it has gained through the spinning gate.

 

Mhighfield is quite correct that Rose Hill has a hard time getting any respect from its neighbors. Of course, often, the feeling is rather mutual. Rose Hill doesn't particularly respect whiners.

 

Spindoc was certainly correct when he implied that Ovinton is the best to ever come through this region. Regardless of where his handlers, not OJ, took him, he first garnered the ESPN, SI, USAToday, TSN, etc. limelight at Rose Hill and not at one of our local publics. That isn't going to change nor can it be spinned away.

 

I did have the opportunity to attend most of the school board meetings around the time that it is suggested that athletics were to take a back seat at Rose Hill. Rickyp also attended those meetings. I don't recall any such discussion and I'm quite sure one of us would have remembered it if it actually took place. Of course, it is possible that such a discussion concerning Rose Hill did take place at Russell or some similar venue.

 

Most of us who were around and vocal during the big money years(for every one of our neighbors as well as for Rose Hill) had a duty to remain active during the lean years. We did so. As the worm seems to be turning, we are still there- and still vocal.

 

Finally, Rose Hill appreciates the broad support it receives from most posters and most area fans. However, for those whose level of whining and innuendo raise proportionally with the success of the program, keep it up. It tells us that we are doing something right. It also tells us that you care.

Rose Hill did it right this time and I wish them nothing but the best of luck. They are now the Class A region favorite until Elliott County can learn to play interior defense and figure out what a good shot is versus a bad shot. Even with Elliott hitting on all cylinders that match-up could be a classic, if it happens.

BogeyMan, thank you for your candor, and I hope I can speak for the other RH posters and say that we would relish the opportunity to play for the All A regional title vs. Elliott and in the event that Elliott represents, we would be wholeheartedly behind them. The animosity is localized FWIW.

Bogeyman, I remember you back then and I understood where you were coming from but the complaints now are without merit.

Because of friendships developed through AAU participation and Class A association, Rose Hill has always enjoyed a good relationship with Elliott County. If Elliott County advances to the Class A state tournament, Rose Hill will support them wholeheartedly. As spindoc says, most of our "dissenters" are, of course, locals.

Just back from the Men's room and this is great, SBOB, SDOC, & RickyP are willing to be Elliott County athletic supporters. Can I count FBREAK in there as well?
