This could be a pretty good game.

Yeah, it could be, but it hasn't happened yet, and for some reason I don't see it happening.

Why don't you see the game happening?

I just see the covid jumping up.

Long trip for the Tomcats but it has the making of a good game.

BG has been in Covid protocol for the past 7 games. Their first game back (fingers crossed) is tomorrow night at a good Somerset team.  A game they picked up since Warren East is in Covid protocol. Really thankful for Ashland being willing to travel that much to play on Saturday. It will be BGs first home game of the season. I'm really looking forward to it!  Safe travels for the Tomcats!

Fun fact:  will be a matchup on the hardwood of the 3A and 5A 2020 State Football Champs!

Should be a good game and by the way, how long of a trip is it from Ashland to Bowling Green?

270 Miles and around 4 hours 17 minutes.

Roughly 4 hrs. and 15 mins., 270 miles.  Just seems like such a waste of money to travel this distance to play a game in an empty building.

I understand what you are saying and don't think it's wrong per se, and in a normal year heck BG could have just stayed the night in Somerset and met Ashland in the early afternoon at a gym in Lexington and been pretty fun for both.  Covid has changed that flexibility.  It has also changed some teams perspective for wanting to pick up games.  Ashland wanted to play and BG needed a game too, so they made it work.

This is how teams that don't normally start playing each other start out.  I hope it continues as Ashland always has good teams and BG will have good teams for the foreseeable future.  It would have been better to find an opponent closer for sure, but I applaud both teams for finding a way in this the most difficult of circumstances to just play ball.

Go Ashland!

Go Purples!

Any way you spin this, it still turns out the same way.  I'm sure both teams could have found a game closer.  I know somehow I'm missing the big picture.

Over four hours on a school bus makes it tough to play a game later in the day.
Coaches are scrambling to get games wherever they can find them. Ashland had to cancel 3 games recently due to Covid protocol.
