I don’t think this was a surprise to anyone on staff so the grooming of certain individuals I bet has been going on for some time. Don’t get me wrong. T has had some extremely good OCs for a long run. I expect it will continue. Cliff Dawson is currently the OL coach. We graduated together in 98. He's been with Trinity for 5 years now I believe. I'd love to see him promoted to OC.
theguru
Whenever I hear about Coach Coverdale I always think of this: From Amazon.com: One of the key things to understand about the bunch concept is that it is a principle as opposed to an entire offensive system. As a result, this book can be extremely useful to you, and specifically what you already do, regardless of your basic system and philosophy. The ideas in this book can be applied and taught to enhance the chances of players who are operating within most any fundamental offensive framework. Pro set, wing-T, run-and-shoot, single-back, split-back veer, ace with two tight ends and two wide receivers, and flexbone are among those offensive sets' general styles of attack that fit this bill. With this goal in mind, we introduce you to the bunch attack. barrel
His stuff on the quick game and his DVDs are of course excellent. On one is his example game plan against SK and on another he talks about using opponent mascots as code words lol.

We did that....also, we would change it now and again...some years the audibles were states north and south, east and west...some years mascots, never colors or anything like that.
barrel
It was just funny to hear him say they used opponents mascots. I’m used to pro/college being the normal code words. Coverdale is great with teaching and words. Another one of his videos references the loss to Male in the state title game and how that changed things for him.
