Who was the best QB in the state this year??

Featured Replies

Am I the only one who thinks that four interceptions in 261 attempts is one of the most impressive things that they have ever heard of?

Very impressive indeed.

However, even more impressive is Trinity's Brian Brohm's one interception in 335 attempts and 47 touchdown passes in 2002.

Amazing!

Not an argument at all. Just a statement of facts and opinion.

Allow me to re-phrase it then.

Silly basis for an opinion.

I would have to say Petrino. Forget the size stuff, this kid will play D1.

Right back at ya. Its an opinion board, are you the arbiter of opinion now?

Best HS QB in 2006 - Petrino

Best QB college prospect for 2007 - Ammons

It IS an opinion board. However, if your basis for your opinion is flawed(which it is in this case), then it will be duly noted.

By your logic, Petrino would be better than Chris Todd, Justin Burke as a junior, Blake Powers, Michael Bush, and Andre Woodson because of a ring on his finger. Surely, you can see the lack of logic.

What's funny is after watching all of those kids play...I would put Nick either with each one of, or maybe better than them....his ONLY drawback is height.

Slayton from WVA :D, he did pretty good this year, had he been on the right team they would have won the state championship and we'd all be like "Nick who?"

No disrespect for Kaelin Ammons. He had an outstanding high school career at Franklin County as both a quarterback and defensive back.

He is not a Division I quarterback prospect. The reason is more than just his not being ideal size.

I totally agree.

Unfortunately, a player has virtually no control over the height the good Lord blesses him with!

I think you would have a hard time making a case (based on facts) that any of those guys were better HIGH SCHOOL QBs than Petrino. Better college prospects? Sure. A QB has more impact on which team wins or loses than any other player. Trinity didn't win back to back titles despite Nick being the QB. They won in large part because he was the QB (note his MVP award in both title games). Unless I missed something no high school QBs in the state of Kentucky took any college snaps this season. So I'll stick with Petrino being the best QB in the state this season. I'll leave the speculation about about all of their futures to you. I'm a high school football fan first and foremost.:thumb:

Does anyone have any idea what this means?

The thing that impressed me most about Petrino was his ability to lead and make plays. Too often nowadays the standard of good quarterbacking is based soley on passing ability. Nick is more of an old-school QB who leads his team and makes plays at any point during the game, whenever they are needed, through toughness, rushing, passing, avoiding mistakes and by infusing his teammates with the confidence that they too can make plays. He was a rallying point for his team.

I am not saying that other QB's in the state didn't have these traits, but Petrino definitely did. Obviously, he was on a "bigger stage" than some other QB's so he might get more considerstion, whether justified or not.

Absolutley, bored at work, sorry
