Familiar Fayette County faces clash for a semifinal berth

Bryan Station rolled past Oldham County in Round 2 for its tenth win this season and a district championship. The offense came alive against the Colonels, racking up 58 points and over 600 yards of offense. The quartet of Mikaleb Coffey, Joey Bond, AhTraivon Jenkins, and CJ Munford led the way, as they have all season.

Dunbar won with great defense to claim its district against Henry Clay. Aside from a couple of defensive "hiccups" this season, that side of the ball has been the Bulldogs' strength. One of those hiccups came on October 30th against the team they'll see this week. Dunbar surrendered over 400 yards of offense and four touchdowns to Station's offense in the 35-28 loss, but the game was decided on a fourth quarter kickoff return touchdown.

Bryan Station leads the all-time series 17-14. This is only the second meeting between the two in the postseason. The first came in 1997.

It kind of is refreshing to see the two Lexington schools that were kind of trending out of the picture over the past decade are the two remaining.

Bryan Station just seems to have the right formula this year and have pulled out close games as well.

I'll take the Defenders by 14.

I think this is a good take ATL!  Lexington teams haven't been in the picture in some time.

But I really think @coachhawk has a great opportunity to build something special at Station!  They have had a super season to this point and looking forward they have their top RB, 3 top WRs and 3 of the top 5 tacklers on the team returning next season!  Yes QB Coffee will graduate and that is a significant loss, but I think they have another QB who is only a JR with experience, so Look Out for Station!

Agreed, and Wes Johnson is doing a good job at Dunbar. No surprise as I remember the good work he did at West Jessamine some time back. It’s nice to see Lexington schools in the mix - something that doesn’t always happen.

Looks about right. I think it will be very close just like the regular season. 

I just have a feeling about this one (that it won't be that close).

I saw Bryan Station in the regular season, and they had a lot of potential - but they also had some warts.    The Bryan Station team I saw run roughshod over a pretty good Oldham County defense last week was light years ahead of the regular season Defenders.

Of course, you SHOULD be better come post-season time.   But the improvement I saw was extremely impressive.

I think the final margin will be more than most think.
