Tab cola is being discontinued.

I feel like everyone has someone they know or have known somewhere along the way in life that was an absolute Tab addict. Am I right?

My 4th grade language arts teacher used to drink it like it was going out of style.

After nearly 60 years, Coca-Cola is discontinuing its first-ever diet soda, Tab, which acquired a huge fan base in the '70s and '80s and maintained a small but devoted following through the years.

"Tab had an amazing run," said Robert Bixby, executive director of the Concord Coalition and a longtime Tab enthusiast. Bixby said messages of condolences have been pouring in. "As a business decision I can understand it, but it's a very sad day ... I do feel it's like losing a friend."

I didn't think you were allowed to drink Tab if you were under 30 years old.

It always kind of tasted kind of metallic to me...like I was drinking pennies or something like that.

I didn't like it either and I know exactly what you mean although I don't believe I have ever drank pennies.

Tab uses saccharin as it's sweetener, which is nasty tasting to begin with in my opinion.

(of course originally it used a combination of saccharin and cyclamate)

I can remember occasionally drinking Tab in the late 80's. I have any recollection as to what it tasted like. Honestly, I haven't seen it in years, and wasn't even aware it was still available.

I am not sure if I've ever had one.

I used to drink my step-dad's Tab because it would frustrate him. This was early 2000s. I honestly didn't know they still made it.

It tasted too sweet for me. Sweeter than any other diet drinks.
