Italian Stallion
The fault should be with the KHSAA for not having enough guts to be for kids. If they really believed in the best interest of high school students they would have classes. I know it would mess with the religious ceremony in March at Rupp Arena, but young people should be the major focus. A class system is the only fair way. It has worked fine for many many years. There's absolutely no need to change it now.

Sounds like Simon Kenton did what they were supposed to do....let the underclassmen finish the game. I don't care who you're playing, as long as you don't press or play a half court trap, you continue to play defense. Just because you're playing a weak team that doesn't mean you quit playing defense. Players should always give 100% when they are on the floor. True blue (and gold)
No, no...I am saying that karma finally caught up with Williamstown! I think that the score could have been A LOT worse with a team less classy than SK. Sorry for the confusion.
NKYBOY1487
I can see why SK wanted to move to the 8th region.

Mack The Knife
It does Williamstown no good as well. There is no need for this game to be played. If there is district seeding, yes, there is a need for the game to be played.
Mack The Knife
For the record, Williamstown is averaging 34 ppg through 5 games.
Italian Stallion
If there is district seeding, yes, there is a need for the game to be played. I understand that there is no avoiding it, but I'm saying that besides that, there is absolutely, positively no need to play this game.
True blue (and gold)
It could give SK's JV or freshmen team some practice.
Ranger
I was at the game. I figured the first 5 guys played just about one quarter of the game. Certainly did nothing to get SK ready for the 5/3 tourney. This was an ablsolute throw away game for SK AND for Williamstown. They do SK no good and they do the other teams no good. Not that this is the girls forum but the SK girls has been through the entire district and hasn't had a meaningful game yet- 30-50 point wins. Why is it that some districts play home and away games while others play single games for seeding purpose? Surely the 32nd district could be seeded with only one game. I guess it is possible for a team to accept the last seed in the district tourney? It has been stated that SK is happy/welcomed etc. the move to the 8th. I would say that from top to bottom that the 9th is without question better but I would also say that some of the top teams in the 8th have historically been better than the top teams in the 9th, as was probably true last year on both the boys and girls side. The 8th is more than just rural county schools of single A size. However, the one thing the move does do is give them a better chance to advance in the regionals. True blue (and gold)
In answer to your district seeding question, KHSAA does not regulate this. At least currently, each district votes on how or if to seed.
Qryche11
Shouldnt even of went to this one. SK won 69-13. I actually felt bad for the Williamstown kids. Most of whom didnt even seem like they wanted to be there. I think Junior Varsity took over for SK in the 2nd quarter. 24 - 0 after 1 quarter...

You're right that the top team in the 8th is historically better, and that as a whole the 9th is better. I'm not positive but I think SK had a losing record against 9th region teams last year. The move to the 8th was so SK could win now, which has worked out pretty well.
HHSDad
Does Williamstown have to play its district and regional opponents or can they opt to play other teams where they might have half a chance? And I agree about SK. If Williamstown only scores 13, then 69 points for SK is VERY conservative.
letabrotherspeak
I can see why SK wanted to move to the 8th region. GSK! SK had no say in the matter, they just did what they were told to do by the state. Your kidding yourself if you think they lobbied for it. You think Scott County wanted to move to the 11th Region? Nope, but they did as the KHSAA had them do, based on realignment.
