Bama's coaching search?

Featured Replies

OLD...That was a good one....JD, the DC or the OC coach who took over when Coach Joe Pa broke his leg is the next coach at Penn State. His last name is Clark. For the guy who had the Bama guy in his office. Paul Johnson is mentioned a lot by the Fans. You can forget Mike Leach. Right now...I have no idea, but as each day goes by the list grows and grows. This list is the one by the Fans.

Believe me I follow tPSU football very, very closely and I'm telling you he is the next coach.

I have read at least 3 interviews where he says that tPSU is his dream job and what he thinks is the best job in the country.

As far as tPSU staying in house, I don't think they will do that for the simple fact that those guys are not big enough names and have been in the shadows too long.

Bama Finally Hires New Tide Coach

BAMA FINDS COACH!

Gump hired as new coach

Greenbow, AL native, Forrest Gump, has accepted the Head Football Coaching position at the University of Alabama. While at Alabama Gump was a standout All-American running back and was coached by the legendary Bear Bryant. As part of his contract Gump insists on being able to work with the Turf Management Crew at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He specifically wants to cut the grass.

I thought he was a wide receiver...

I have got a great line for that one but I had better check with a mod before posting it.

JD, I respect that. If you are close to the program I understand. I'll share that with others. I think Penn State will get a great coach with CGS. Coach Bradley instead of Clark. I had the wrong name there. I sure wouldn't want CGS and then have him leave Three years from now.

Coach Gump is talking with LT. Dan as the OC But of course he will have to coach from the booth. The team meal will be Shrimp. He also inked a deal to be the Table Tennis coach during the winter. His IQ has improved and is now just a little hire than the vols Coach. At his Press Conference he was asked why he came to a dead end job that nobody wanted. He quote was "life is like a box of Chocolates, there is plenty of nuts around here".

He returned kicks...The Devon Hester of that time...

  That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

Any new news....the recruiting trail is burning.

Coach Tommy Bowden was hot last nite, but now has said he is not going anywhere (must have gotten a raise). Bama Fans 8 out of 10 were against this. Saban still on the fans wish list...not gonna happen. Paul Johnson still getting alot of love from some fans. He beat Jim Tressel when was at Georgia Southern/ Youngstown St. AD is being very busy and quite. as well he should.

How tough will it be, to get a big name coach in place, now that everybody knows they weren't the first choice, since Rodriguez turned it down.

Will they look for an assistant or former 'Bama staffer, you think?

Hey Larry,

Have any of those fans that love Paul Johnson seen Navy's offense? A steady diet of fullback dives might make those same fans long for the Shula offense.

Undoubtedly Paul Johnson is a good coach. He won at Georgia Southern and at Navy, the latter being a particularly difficult job. But while Navy football is successful, they aren't really pretty. I'm not sure this is the man for Alabama, especially since the biggest Crimson Tide concern seems to be limited offense, along with the inability to beat Auburn.

If they can't get one of the top names already mentioned I look for them to get one of "Bears boys" or "Stallings boys". JMO and all I do know is that Bama is a proud football tradition and I look for them to get a QUALITY coach.

I'd call this the Rich Brooks Syndrome. Fortunately for the Tide, though, Alabama should hold more name value than Kentucky. The longer it stretches out, however, 'Bama may have to look for a staffer.

What about Norm Chow?

You are 100% right and how many coaches, have been successful following Bear Bryant, John Wooden and so on, at many college programs.

That constant comparison, I would imagine can be overwhelming.

I was half asleep the other night but heard his name being discussed, can't recall where.

I heard him mentioned at North Carolina State, Arizona State and Stanford. The first two have already been filled, while Stanford is still open. Chow would probably be a good fit at Stanford with his west coast connections, but that program is so down he might not want the headache.

I haven't heard any mention of him at Alabama. He's widely regarded as one of the best offensive minds in football and that's what Alabama needs more than anything. Do you think there is the perception that an Asian-American (he's from Hawai'i) couldn't recruit the Deep South?
