I just smell a bunch of hate for a program that is at the top right now. Clarrett shouldn't even be brought up. That guy was/is a nut job, and w/ the talent he had, he could have went to any # of schools and embarassed that school like he did OSU. Even w/ all his talent, Tressell cut him when he realized what a handful he was going to be. OSU is having a lot of success, and there are just some folks who can't stand it. I suppose, w/ the trouble Smith got into a few years back, he should have anticipated this and turned down the Heisman. Then you guys would be saying he disgraced the award. This was a no-win for him because somebody would have put their own personal spin on things to make him/OSU look bad.

Or did Tressel let him go, because he knew that Clarett would get the school in trouble with some of the stuff O$U does...:sssh:

 

You make it out to be that everyone is just hating on O$U, but if look at the situation. It probably just a coincedence that troubles and problems have followed Tressel at the schools he had been at. I mean even before he came to O$U, there was stuff going on at youngstown state that was getting investigated. Yes somehow no one ever blames Tressel for ever doing anything wrong, even though stuff keeps coming up at the schools he ha been at...:sssh:

I have not seen any one make a statment that sounds like what you are trying to imply. Maybe I am just not looking in the right places????

The guy made one mistake and gets a ton of flack for it. I believe I heard that he now goes around preaching to kids about how not to make the same mistake as he did. To me he looks like someone who has gotten a second chance and is thankful for it. He's ran with the opportunity and has made the most of it. As long as he repaid the money he accepted Im willing to forget about it. He served his punishment and as been a model citizen ever since. I can deal with that.

I think he got his second chance when they gave him and O$U a slap on the wrist and let him continue his college football career. Giving him the most prestigious award in football is just icing on the cake.

Cry to the NCAA about it. They seemed to think it was a fair punishment. I'm sure they had a precedent to help them make the ruling on Smith. I realize you're upset that your Golden Boy Brady didn't win, but he didn't play well enough in the big games that he needed to.

You're right....a tremendously rough punishment....

 

Don't forget about missing the Alamo Bowl at the end of the season as well as preseason practice in 05. That punishment went a long way in that if Smith doesn't take the money The Bucks might as well of won the title last season.

 

But in the end it's all water under the bridge.

Well if you look at OSU now will have two guys now that received money or other things while leading O$U to National Championships. First Maurice Clarett, and now Smith when they most likely win the championship again. While Jim Tressal still looks like he never does anything wrong at O$U...
