December 10, 200619 yr Really? I didn't watch the presentation, but from reading the posts on here, I was under the impression that that's EXACTLY what he had, class and dignity. I thought this country was all about giving somebody a second chance. How many times have YOU screwed up and got another shot? Maybe your boss has called you into their office and chewed you out for doing something you shouldn't. Did they fire you right then, or send you back to work? That might be nice for you to say about him, but you should think about you getting second chances too. But that's my opinion. December 10, 200619 yr It would be nice to see someone with a little class win the most prestigous award in college football! Then you should be happy with this years winner . With the enviroment that he came out of to where he is today imo speaks volumes on his class. Yes, Smith took an illegal payment...............He also served the penalty, paid the price and corrected his poor judgement and imo is a great example of "making things right" after mistakes. Then again I guess all the critics on this thread has never made a mistake in their life.

I will make this one my last on this thread by saying Congrats to a very deserving Heisman winner -- Troy Smith of the Ohio State University.

For anyone to be so naive as to think that there is a major program in the country that doesn't give their scholarship athletes some type of gratuitous reward (that's basketball also, not just football) is living w/ their head in the sand. The fact that OSU caught the incident, OSU reported the incident, and Troy Smith has learned from his mistakes speaks volumes, not only for Smith, but the entire Buckeye football program. Troy Smith is a quality young man. He won this award on the field. He will add a ring to his finger on Jan 8th. He will go high in the draft. Get over it.

If Troy Smith would've had that incident happen this season, he probably wouldn't have won, but since it was a while ago, that seems to be acceptable. Peter Warrick was clearly the best player in college when he received some free SNEAKERS...yet he wasn't even a finalist for the Heisman....sounds about right. Oh yeah, Warrick signle handidly destroyed the Hokies as well.
