CatchMeIfYouCan
 :scared: Smith became the first Buckeye winner since Eddie George in 1995. Troy Smith did so with the highest percentage of first-place votes ever.

UKMustangFan
Really??? That's very impressive, yet hard to believe considering the talent from past winners. I'd attribute that more to the lack of a realistic challenger than to Smith being the most talented.
CatchMeIfYouCan
Really??? That's very impressive, yet hard to believe considering the talent from past winners. He received 801 first-place votes, the second most ever, and 1,662 points more than second-place finisher Darren McFadden of Arkansas, making it the second-most lopsided Heisman vote. Only O.J. Simpson's 1,750-point victory in 1968 was more onesided. Smith also received 86.7 percent of the first-place votes, a record, and his point total of 2,540 places third in Heisman history behind Simpson (2,853) and fellow Southern California tailback Reggie Bush, who had 2,541 last season The first Ohio State quarterback in 70 years to lead the Buckeyes to three straight victories over Michigan He's 11-1 as a starter against ranked opponents http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2692486
Hard Rock Fan
I'd attribute that more to the lack of a realistic challenger than to Smith being the most talented. I got hammered in the Heisman thread earlier for stating this very thing. I wasn't about to say it again. If Reggie Bush's last year's season was this year, I would say the margin would've been even greater.

The competition though was not too strong.

oldrambler
Troy Smith absolutely deserve this award no matter who else was a finalist. Imo Smith handled himself with all class and dignity. His interview and then his acceptance speech were great. I look at the situation this guy came out of and where he is now and to me it has to make a fan of any team feel good. This also makes The Ohio State tied with Notre Dame and USC for the most heisman winners from a school (7 I believe...maybe 6):dancingpa . One more piece of harware to go this season for the Buckeyes.:ylsuper: :flame:

If you really feel that Smith is the most talented player to ever win the Heisman than you need to take off the Scarlet and Gray blinders. He was the most talented player in the country this year, but the fact that he won by such a huge margin is more a reflection on the level of realistic competitors.
