COVID-19 What Will Television Programming Look Like?

A lot of NFL talk. Maybe a new agreement by Sunday and tags start Monday. Free Agency starts Wednesday and the NFL will get all the coverage. NFL and Brady everywhere.

NFL talk is everyday throughout the year from my experience regardless if it’s not in season. They talk about it more than all other sports combined, or at least it seems that way, lol.

Been trying to watch anything that’s not talking about the virus.

I came downstairs this morning and my wife was watching the news and it was all about Corona of course. I said, what else do we need to know? I'm tired of it constantly. Goign to be binge watching some shows and movies I guess. Probably watch some old 90's Bulls games that I have on DVD.

  • 2 weeks later...

Saturday, NBC is televising the Florida Derby from Gulfstream Park. As of this morning, it is still happening.

Most of Dade County (Miami, Hialeigha, Miami Beach, ..., etc.) is under stay at home orders. However, Gulfstream Park is in Broward County, near Hollywood.

I understand what you’re saying. I mean, it seems I’ve been reminded to “social distance 6-8 feet” over and over on every news channel in their governor updates and specialist interviews. I suppose the more it’s said and reinforced the hope is that the message will last with the public.

In her defense, she doesn't use Twitter and isn't on BGP. So just about everything on the local or national news, I've already read and seen several times before its on our TV.

I wonder if sports writers and sports broadcasters will be laid off.

Some undoubtedly will. I hope I'm not one of them (crossing fingers). I have taken on more news coverage and other duties during this time, while still trying to have some semblance of a sports page.

Horse racing! It is the only sport still going on, I think.

May not be for long. Fairgrounds cut its meet short. Keeneland cancelled, so did NY and Maryland and it appears Chicago. I guess Turfway is done. Correction — they will close out Thursday-Saturday.

And I just got the email that Turfway will not run its final three days of the meet.
