Very true. He's always very vocal about his support of the tomcats. Good fans always are. I just wish he'd give a little credit to some other teams around the state every now and then.

Buddy ball will work if you saw the game last night the Cats did run the ball the shots did not fall.The defense was great in the 4th with steals and turnovers that helped them get back in the game. If they can play the whole game like that buddy ball will work.

Ashland will be fine,Thats why they play 25 to 30 games a season.

Thats the down fall to the "run and gun" approach. It doesnt matter how fast you run your offense if you dont make the shots that you're shooting. Seems to me that when you are having trouble getting shots to fall the logical thing to do would be to slow the pace down and work the ball around some.

Also, who is the Ashland player that was moving up the list on the Tomcats all time scoring list ? Dicky was talking about it a little before the game.

Thats who I was thinking Dicky mentioned. He must be a hard worker and get a lot of his points quietly. Ive watched Ashland play several times in the last 2or 3 years. He never really stuck out to me.

No way I'm slamming on Coach Biggs. From all I've seen and know of him, he's a fine man and coach. I have no bones to pick with him. I'm sure he'll pick things up as the season progresses.

 

My point is after all the hullabaloo by reporters and fans about the new running and gunning style of play, (and GAIT's "WARNING") expectations were high. The painful reality is that in three games, the Cats average offensive output per game is 57.7 points. They clearly overmatched Rock Hill for a 21 point win, but in their first two losses against decent opponents they only averaged 45 ppg… and it will take an exceptional effort for the Cats to score more than 50 points against a solid Mason County team.

 

After Mason the Cats have a decent opportunity to balance up the season record with games against Lewis County, Belfry and Magoffin County. Lewis and Magoffin should pose no great difficulty for them, but Belfry (with Johnson County officiating) could eat the Cats alive if they’re not careful.

 

No big deal with any of this, other than to point out that the new up tempo style of play is not producing results all that different from the more controlled style of play Mike Flynn employed. I think they will do well to be at 4-3 on the morning of December 22, but they could just as easily be 3-4. To project beyond that is foolish without knowing who the “TBAs” are on the 22 and 23.

One last point on Ashland's schedule is the fact that they will play something like 14 of their last 19 games at home in Anderson Gymnasium. This will provide them a distinct boost late in the season.

I knew he had to be a work horse when I heard Dicky saying he was 9 on the all time list and about to become 8. Ive watched him in several games, he's the type of player that might have 18 points and 10 boards and you dont realize it till you read it in the paper the next day.

Also something no one has pointed out about last nights game. Who ever was guarding Thomas all night must have dont a heck of a job. Im pretty sure he only had 7 points, 2 of them coming in the 2nd half. I dont think he shot the ball poorly, from listening to the radio, it seemed like he just didnt have much of an opportunity to shoot. Taking away Thomas is a big key in any team beating Ashland this year.

I think the WARNING has backed fired, Biggs seems like a class act guy,give him some time he will do fine.I think alot of teams get fired up to play the Cats due to the warning.

Okay, I figured it out. GIAT has been too busy looking for a good picture of Coach Wilcox so he can change his avatar again. So busy he hasnt had time to congratulate Boyd on their win.
