I think you're out of line with this post. I have never ONCE bad mouthed a kid and I never will. I have also never ONCE taken a shot at Buddy Biggs or whatever his name is. When my teams lose, I get ragged on by GIAT, Scooterbob, and whoever else - I don't consider it a personal attack on me, my schools, or their players - I consider it my FRIENDS on BluegrassPreps that I will someday hopefully meet and get to know. We rag on each other because its fun and it leads to good exchanges - because we are sports fans. Everytime I see a prayer thread on here, I actually pray for those people because I consider them my BluegrassPreps family.

 

Also, I'm not hiding behind anything. That's why I use my actual real name as my nickname. I don't say anything on here that makes me feel the need to hide - that's why I use my name as my nickname. I state my opinions, I make jokes because I like to have a few laughs, and I state facts. There's never any doubt as to when I'm joking. I have forgotten more about basketball than most of the people on here will ever know - but I still choose to sometimes just try to have fun. I am no idiot - I know that Ashland will be right there at the end of the season. I know they have talent playing for a new coach and a new system. And while I know that, I am still living in Rowan County and my wife is from Elliott County and I played at Magoffin County - so that's who I'll be cheering for. And that's why I'll be taking shots at GIAT, just as he will to me when and if Ashland beats my teams. I thought we were all just having fun.

Boyd pulls off the "upset" in this one. Its gonna be a long week for the Tomcats. I guess Boyd didnt get the "warning" either.

It was considered an upset by the 16th region ratings. I think Boyd was in the 9 or 10 spot in the region while Ashland was between the 2-4 range. I really didnt think it was an upset, thats why I used quotation marks. I didnt think Ashland was as hot as some fans though this early in the season.

Its definately getting heated in the 16th this year!

Selby was the man in this game. I know he had 15 points. I think he was the difference in this one. He would have had many more in my opinion had he not ran into some foul trouble. I think he set out most of the 3rd.Ashland seems to be a little week inside this year. I know he had a big block down the stretch on a lay up also.

As for the game, congratulations to BC. I heard Dickie Martin make a statement on the radio that I didn't expect to hear. He was talking about the coaching staff sitting on the bench for Boyd County, and when he mentioned Dave Wooten, he said something to the effect that "he was a heckuva ballplayer". Anyone that watched Wooten back in the 70's would agree, but I didn't expect to hear Dickie Martin say it. Wooten was a playmaker that could score, and playing alongside Phil Pratt, Shumway, and a couple of others, they were a tough team to beat.

He was talking about the coaching staff sitting on the bench for Boyd County, and when he mentioned Dave Wooten, he said something to the effect that "he was a heckuva ballplayer". Boyd learned a lot from last years collapse, look for this team to get a lot better by seasons end. I said before the season started this team has great chemistry, and they play extremely hard every nite that in itself will win a bunch of ballgames. They remind you of some of the old throwback Boyd teams, on paper your better than them at every position but somehow they manage to hang in there.

I think Ashland will be fine this season and will be a team that you dont want to run into during the districts or the region as they always are. I would assume its going to take some games for these kids to get adjusted to the way coach Biggs likes to run. Its always tough on a team when a new coach comes into a program with a different style of play. Most teams struggle the first couple years with a new coach, but I think Mr. Biggs will be another legendary coach at Ashland if he sticks around. Nothing for the tomcat kids to hang their heads about tonight, they got beat by a better team at this point in the season. Things may be different next time these two meet, I sure hope not though. In my opinion this is just another classic,emotional,hard fought and down to the wire Boyd / Ashland game!
