McCracken has been ranked in the top 10 all year. South Laurel is solid as well.

The fact that they won't seed just shows that it's a participation trophy thing. The KHSAA needs to man up and mandate seeding across every district and even in the state. These bouncing balls, pill drawing shenanigans need to stop.

 

Just this weekend I saw a 1st grade tourney that was seeded. But by golly, don't seed the most important weekend of the year!?!?

 

Ugh. This is one of the best weekends, it would be even better if they would seed not draw!

This tourney has worked really well for 103 years with luck of the draw, both favorites and underdogs have won this tourney, so why change the format now?

Potential of Male / Collins in the 1st round is really good as well.

Only four regions have no one ranked in the BGP Top 20: the 3rd, the 15th, the 14th, and the 12th (assuming I did my quick check accurately). The 3rd winner (say, Owensboro) and the 15th winner (say, Shelby Valley) get to play in the first round. The other two regions get tough dates with the 6th (Fern Creek?) and the 9th (CovCath?).

Does this mean that the 1-10 and 9-12 match-ups will be the late games on Wednesday and Thursday?

 

Going by last years brackets- No. The times did not run from top to bottom. ( if that makes sense)

These are pretty good in my eyes. No top 5 teams potentially facing each other in the first round.

Because if you don't evolve and adapt, you eventually fall apart. I've said it before. I can seed (and actually have several times) a wrestling tournament with 300 kids from 4 different states and 15 different weight classes (brackets),75% of which I've never heard of, pretty accurately. Yes I whiff on a few, but even those whiffs aren't bad. Yet people keep saying it's impossible to seed 16 high school basketball teams from the same state. The random draw is a lazy, unispired, poor way to set up what is supposed to be the "best tournament" in the country. That, along with not classifying the sport (and really all major sports) is long overdue. Keeping it is just bad business, and not fan or team friendly and is simply holding on to nostalgia. The way this system is set up cheapens the regular season, and doesn't reward those who've earned a prime seat at the table.

Why should a team ( unexpected to do anything) that just had a "Cinderella" regional tournament be "rewarded" with playing the best team in the tournament? I like the "luck of the draw".

I know how people debate the weekly rankings ( which really mean nothing)- can't imagine how they would react to seeding- I bet some would feel very slighted.

Why should a great team who’s had a great season not be rewarded? Is the tournament really about making sure a Cinderella team gets to continue their run? Maybe the NCAA should start doing random draws and giving the 16 seeds an easier path.

 

We constantly rant about participation trophies, and getting rewarded for hard work, and striving to be the best. But we throw that out the window when it comes to the sweet 16 because we’ve been doing it this way for a hundred years, because it’s cool when a Cinderella wins it every once in a blue moon.
