Has Mcpeek been on staff? I am unfamiliar with his experience.

Yes he has been offensive coordinator for all three seasons.

Does he have any head coach experience or just coordinator experience?

Yes has been a head coach in Georgia in was at Fairview for 6 years the lost to Mayfield in the 2012 Class A state title game. He was contacted this winter for several head coaching jobs here in Kentucky. He would be a good fit and a smooth transition to take over the helm imo.

McPeek played at Russell and then Marshall University.

He was the HC at Fairview and led them to the State Finals, but it came with its fair share of drama.

McPeek and Fairview got in trouble for playing an illegal player and had to forfeit the season. He went to Georgia as an assistant before returning and taking an assistant role at FD.

To say McPeek creates a polarized response in how he is viewed is an understatement.

I would think McPeek being the HC would be a travesty of justice when you consider how he destroyed the Fairview Program.

Saying McPeek creates a "polarized response" is a HELL of an understatement...about BOTH McPeeks. Garry McPeek, who is Nate's uncle, was the Fairview principal who was implicated in all of the same controversy that Nate was. Both resigned from Fairview without being asked to, which many (most) accepted as a pretty straight admission of wrongdoing. FD hired Garry as their athletic director, and Garry hired Nate as the team's offensive coordinator before they'd even hired Landis, which is strange, to say the least.

Garry was moved to dean of students at FD for 2019, and was an assistant football coach as well until he announced his retirement from FD mid-year, almost immediately following the Broncos' loss in the football state finals. He has already popped back up at the college level with some sort of a staff position Georgetown College. People have questioned why he decided to leave his job mid-year. There is also some talk of a quarterbacks coach who apparently left or was fired at FD in the last year or two.

Hell, I'll say it...there are a LOT of rumors about Landis and why he left FD after having such a breakout 3 years. There are a LOT of rumors about why he also had a very curious weeklong absence from any and all team activities that included his absence on the sidelines for FD's game against Bryan Station. No one involved with the program will come forward and comment on the reason behind Landis' absence, but there have been questions as to whether or not FD was self-imposing a suspension of some sort on Landis.

Lots of head scratchers going on at FD. Lots of McPeeks involved at FD. Lots of questions coming from schools where McPeeks used to be employed.

McPeek makes the most sense to me. Especially if he has been there for the past three years. He knows the administration. He knows the school system. He knows the players. He has head coaching experience.

Freddy D has a good thing going right now. I feel like McPeek keeps that momentum going in the right direction.

I know folks will love to bring up Fairview and all that stuff but if folks are being realistic with themselves then they should understand that Fairview happened before Frederick Douglass opened and before he was hired there three years ago. If it didn’t affect his hiring at that time then there is no point in bringing it up now.

If a CFO is caught embezzling from a company, do you hire him as a staff accountant and then promote him you your CFO just because he hasn't stolen again?

If I hired him to a spot right under CFO and the CFO leaves then yes, he’ll be my first choice to replace the CFO.

You like to take bigger risks than I do.

Everybody is different.

McPeek is their OC.

His uncle hired him before they ever hired a HC. My question is if everything was on the up and up why was McPeek not given the HC job 3 years ago?

The McPeeks always leave a mess where ever they go, not just Fairview ask anyone involved in football in NEKY during their time there. Fairview just got the worst of it before they left the area.

I am pretty sure that the McPeek era at Lawrence County ended abruptly also.
