January 1, 20206 yr Minny with 494 yards, doubles up Auburn with 232. That's tough to explain when Auburn was said to have an elite defense. Minnesota dominated this stat. Total yards: Minnesota 490, Auburn 232. There an echo in here? :lol2:
January 1, 20206 yr Author Auburn had 7 of their 13 games against ranked teams with Minnesota’s 18 ranking being the lowest one. They finished 3-4.
January 2, 20206 yr We had the privilege to be here in Tampa for the game. Gophers play together with heart and character. Tanner Morgan is legit. I wish I had known. We could have met up. What side were you sitting on? The west side and south endzone were mostly Minnesota fans. The east side and north endzone were primarily Auburn. We were in the club section on the east side. Section 233. Sorry @John Anthony, the sideline passes fell though, so I did not get to meet P. J. Fleck or get a pic of Tanner. It was a fun game to watch. We stayed well after the Minnesota Alma Mater was played and the Gopher fans were still roaring away as we made our way to the truck.
January 2, 20206 yr I hope the Gophers get to spend some time back at their hotel tonight and tomorrow. They are staying on Clearwater Beach. I was heading over to my daughter's home this morning and met the team buses as they were coming across the Courtney Campbell Causeway, which is how they would get from the beach hotels to Raymond James Stadium.

We were in 107 Row F - Minnesota sideline on Buccaneer Ship side at 5 yard line. Agreed that is way a really fun game to watch.
January 2, 20206 yr Auburn did not look like a big time SEC team in this one. What exactly does a “big time SEC team” look like to YOU? To me they looked like the 5th best SEC team, which is what they were...
January 2, 20206 yr What exactly does a “big time SEC team” look like to YOU? To me they looked like the 5th best SEC team, which is what they were... A big time SEC school (one that people rattle off when gloating about the SEC: Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn) doesn’t lose to Minnesota. Just tired of the SEC narrative. They aren’t as good as they gab about. If they are the SEC I hear about the 3-5 of SEC should handle the 5th best big 10 team.

As much as we may hate hearing about it, the SEC (especially the top half) has earned that narrative though, wouldn't you agree?
January 2, 20206 yr What exactly does a “big time SEC team” look like to YOU? To me they looked like the 5th best SEC team, which is what they were... And they got steamrolled - on the stat line, at the very least - by the 6th ranked team in the Big 10. And I have no dog in this fight. I do often find the degree of “conference loyalty” amusing.
January 2, 20206 yr I do often find the degree of “conference loyalty” amusing. If my guy @GrantNKY and I agree on nothing else, we agree that the conference chest bumping is one of the dumbest things in college athletics.
January 2, 20206 yr As much as we may hate hearing about it, the SEC (especially the top half) has earned that narrative though, wouldn't you agree? Sure, but one of those SEC blue bloods should not lose to Minnesota. Auburn didn’t have that SEC look in the game that’s all.
January 2, 20206 yr If my guy @GrantNKY and I agree on nothing else, we agree that the conference chest bumping is one of the dumbest things in college athletics. Well, if you and I agree, there has to be some validity.
January 2, 20206 yr Sure, but one of those SEC blue bloods should not lose to Minnesota. Auburn didn’t have that SEC look in the game that’s all. In the past, sure we wouldn't expect Minnesota to beat Auburn. Generally speaking, I think we put way too much emphasis on bowl games and what they mean to teams/conferences. There are a number of factors we could look at as to why a team doesn't play their best in a bowl game.
