OldRaider22
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2685389 Just so you all can see that GT and I aren't the only ones mystified by the way this all came about, this is the cover story on ESPN. If you want my opinion, this all stinks to high heaven for all involved. I am officially tired of the BCS, and since all they care about is money, I plan on staging my own personal protest by not watching ANY of the games this year. I did get a good laugh earlier, as a buddy called me and said, "Dude, it came down to a vote and Florida, you should have know that you were in big trouble." Really a good read if you've got a sec though. Some valid points. Personally, I'm proud to be a UM alum, and as much heat as Coach Carr has taken, at least he didn't whine like a little girl to get votes. The article also confirmed what I already knew, that Jim Tressell is a weasel, I only hope that the Big 10 can pay him back one day. I am also convinced, and I'm looking more into who voted for who, etc., that we here on BGP know WAY more about football than nearly all of these guys that vote. I mean seriously, Florida at #1, Oklahoma at #4, and Boise at #5? I'm sure the UL contingent will love that. Finally, as I have pointed out earlier, all of this promotes the worst in college football. Whining to get in, scheduling weak teams, all of this isn't what its supposed to be about. Can we have a playoff already?

OldRaider22
Wow... So Forde pretty much called out: 1. The BCS 2. Urban Meyer 3. Jim Tressell 4. The poll voters Am I leaving anyone out? Pretty much hit the nail on the head if you ask me.

This thing was a sham. No way around it...
Deimos
(Harris Poll voter Jim Walden was apparently so smitten by Meyer's pitch that he became the only voter on the planet to put Florida No. 1, ahead of Ohio State. Walden also voted Oklahoma fourth, Boise State fifth, Wake Forest seventh and LSU 11th. Makes me wonder whether we were watching the same sport all fall.) Here's something else we learned this weekend: When the going gets tough, voting is optional. Buckeyes boss Jim Tressel flat refused to vote in the final USA Today coaches' poll and got away with it. I enjoyed this part.
OldRaider22
I enjoyed this part. A sham........no doubt. How can anyone have 1 loss UF ahead of OSU? And Tressell not voting, I'd sure love to be able to pay that back one day. As it says, if its good enough to vote in week 10, it dang sure is good enough in the final week. Took the easy way out IMO.
UKPat02
Anytime people get to pick who plays for a national title, biases and politics will loom large. The only way to solve it is by letting the kids play an 8 team playoff.

Or for the representative of the ACC that is ranked #14 and makes the playoffs. This year alone #10 Oklahoma as Big 12 champ makes the playoffs #14 Wake Forest as ACC champ makes the playoffs Out of the BCS top 10, good chance that #4LSU does not make the playoffs, #7Wisconsin does not make the playoffs, and #9Auburn does not make the playoffs. You think we wouldn't have front page articles on the unfairness of the playoff system as #4 LSU stays home and #14 Wake Forest with 2 losses gets to go. The playoff system works great in Div. 1AA.

ladiesbballcoach
Have any of the SEC guys read this? Florida has a victory over the #4 ranked team. Michigan has a victory over the #7 ranked team. To me, that is a wash. Michigan lost to the #1 rated team at their place. Florida lost to the #9 rated team at their place. To me, that is a wash. Michigan holds a victory over the #11 ranked team. Florida holds a victory over the #12 and #17 ranked teams. As the polls indicated, it is a close call, but I feel with UM already having their shot at OSU, it was correctly given to Florida.

The problem is, there isn't anything in the rules that states, "if you already had a shot. Or your not a conference champion." Put that in and I'm good. I also find it quite convenient that you use the most recent rankings to make your comparisons in some spots, but not others. It certainly doesn't hurt your case to do so I suppose.
