Ohio State and LSU both have cases for No. 1. Buckeyes have beaten three consecutive top-10 teams by double digits, all three non-conference opponents played for conference championship and they entered the weekend No. 1.

 

While I don't think UC, Miami, or FAU is as tough as a road game at Texas to start the season (Urban agrees), that is still impressive that all three non con opponents ended up in their conference championship games.

 

OSU best win is Wisky (Michigan & Penn State are overrated... Did people not learn that last bowl season??) which, IMO, isn't better than LSU's road win over Bama or neutral site win over Georgia... Or road wins over Florida and Auburn. We will find out at noon today.

To diverge just a bit from the seeding discussion, the second half was whe Wisconsin we all know and love. Just good enough to tantalize you into thinking that they’re elite, but ultimately a paper tiger that gets exposed.

 

Same concept as Georgia, except Georgia is inept on offense.

OSU will likely drop to #2 but the bigger problem/distraction is losing our defensive coordinator to BC.

UC beats Memphis anywhere else but the Liberty Bowl. Cats just had too many mental mistakes/dropped passes and penalties. Still a year ahead of schedule though.

 

UC loses linebackers Bryan Wright and Perry Young on defense as impact guys that will be tough to replace and that's pretty much it.

 

-Entire secondary plus James Wiggins will be back.

 

-Everyone on the D Line returns...plus Blake Bacevich, who was lost pre season to season ending injury.

 

-O-line will replace Ferguson and James with original starter Jeremy Cooper (season ending injury at Marshall) and James Hudson (Harbaugh still sucks).

 

- Deguara will be replaced by Huber, Whyle, and L Taylor at tight end.

 

- Return leading receiver Alec Pierce plus Tre Tucker, Jayshon Jackson, Malick Mbodj, and Blue Smith.

 

- Lastly, backfield of Ridder, Warren, Doaks, and McClelland will be back.

 

Also bringing in the highest rated class in school history.

 

Expectations are sky high next year. Can we please run that OSU game back? Think it would be much more competitive than what we had to watch this year.

I had a long response typed up this morning detailing all the reasons why I felt OSU could/should be the #1 seed. But, I deleted it. Not worth the hassle to debate it any further.

 

However, I want to bring up two points that still get on my nerve. I often hear that teams are "overrated", which in my mind means that person feels the committee got the ranking wrong. But, yet that same person will say the committee got it "right" when referring to another team and their placement. So, which is it? Is the committee right, or are they wrong? Or are you saying you're a better judge of teams than the committee is? I just don't get it.

 

And lastly, there were a lot of "experts" who said OSU didn't even have to necessarily win yesterday's game, in order to make the playoffs. So, let's look at that. If they lose, they obviously drop. To where? #3? #4? Are they a better 1-loss team than Oklahoma? You tell me. If they would've barely won...obviously a lot of people would say they should drop. Again, to where? #2? #3? Is barely beating a #8 team (for a second time) THAT bad that Clemson jumps them too? Again, just asking.

I personally think if you ask Dabo if he were honest I think he would rather play LSU because their defense is not quite as explosive as the Buckeyes D. But their is very little difference in the two this year. I personally hope we see them play for the National Championship in about a month.

You do realize a lot of the reason why there can’t be objective conversations is because of a lot of things OSU fans say right? Everything you just said though, I believe everyone on here feels the same way but wishing the loyal OSU fans on here would be able to be more objective in conversations.

The reason behind all of it in my book is hate. I’ve made that well known. Hate also brought Justin Fields to Columbus and put us on this journey, the power of that 4 letter word is immense.

Possibly but as I said OSU fans bring the hate to themselves with a lot of the comments you all make. You talk about people being haters, the reason for many of the haters as you say is because of the comments. As I said it literally has worked both ways and both sides are guilty of it.

 

We’re in agreement it would be nice to have reasonable conversations and debates leading up to these games. This years playoffs will be special and we all should enjoy watching great teams go at it.
