If a team is at midfield and its fourth and 1 in a tight game and they go for it, would you rather them throw a 45 yard pass that is intercepted with no return (which is a turnover in conventional terms) or get stuffed at line giving the ball back to opponent at midfield (which your saying is not a turnover)?

 

The BC pass at end of half that was intercepted counts as a turnover but was irrelevant in terms of giving ball back to JC (was no different than incomplete pass). The turnover on downs by JC was very relevant. I'm not sure the punt that hit opposing player is considered turnover as Boyle never possessed the ball to turn it over.

 

I'm arguing semantics here, I know. Your correct in the inference that Boyle made way to many mistakes, but so did JC. No one ever plays a perfect game, you just have to play better than the opponent on a given night. JC did that tonight.

You make a good point. Maybe someday the powers that be will revisit the definition of "turnover".

After the drive home thinking about the game. Credit to the Johnson Central defense! Great game! Their offense only got 3 touchdowns but they hardly had a 3 and out tonight. Boyle made have had the advantage on total yardage gained but I bet that JC owned the time of possession that kept our offense off the field. Johnson Central played smart and deserved the win. Congratulations on a great season!

Great sportsmanship displayed on the field that someone had to win and someone had to lose. I thought the winners won with class and the losers lost with class.

What a game this was! Thank god for the new RPI system or this game would have never happened at this point!

 

Reese Smith is one heck of a player! That caught he made to set up Boyle Co last score was insane! For all the offensive accolades he gets, and deservedly so. He is every bit as impressive on the defensive end. It seemed he was in on nearly every play defensively.

 

And how about Dillon Preston! Playing Ironman football and coming up with big play after big play! What looked like a huge play for Boyle Co to open the game was quickly shattered by Dillon

Who came in with one heck of a strip on Smith.

 

JC, against all odds, believed in themselves and each other and done what many said couldn’t be done against an outstanding Boyle County team. I think we all knew that totally shutting down Boyle County wasn’t going to happen but they had good overall success in making Boyle move the ball slower than they were used to.

 

You hate that either one of these class program had to lose but both showed the upmost sportsmanship through the game! Congrats to Boyle Co on an excellent season and Congrats to the Johnson Central Golden Eagles on winning their 2nd state championship!

100 % agree. I got my Principal’s certificate in 1996, but stayed in coaching and teaching. I do better with kids than adults.

Saw on another thread that Chris Pardue is retiring. He is a gifted/talented offensive football mind. He has been a good friend as well as a resource to help our offense, going back to 1992. Best wishes to one of the best ever to call plays in the state of KY.
