AT St. X, but it is open to the public.

Oldham County beat St Xavier 62-61 in tonight’s scrimmage.

Spencer County and Fairdale split two quarters a piece in scrimmage with Spencer County winning overall by 6. Fairdale has two dudes that can tear the rim up. Both teams played alot of players as they should in a scrimmage.

I watched hudl highlights and saw St.X Mekhi Smith didn’t play in this scrimmage. Looks like was good scrimmage for both teams.

Of the above, Woodford County at Paul Dunbar looks to be very intriguing, as the newest 8th region member goes up against a former region foe. Paul Dunbar featuring perhaps the biggest and deepest team in the 11th, and certainly one of the region 11 contenders.

Walton also plays a pretty good team in Newport Catholic Central, probably the top team in the 36th district and one of the top 3-4 teams in the ninth region.

Five of the nine 8th Region teams in action Monday are led by new coaches...

Thanks, Neerfan! I missed that one.

Gallatin was barely able to hold off Holmes last year in the season opener and they seem to have lost a lot. Can they go into Holmes and beat them? Seems to me like Gallatin could potentially prove a lot in this first week and rocket up the rankings. Have Holmes Monday and then at Collins Saturday. Excited to see how this region shakes out. Lot of great basketball ahead!

Gallatin has a couple of newbies who should provide big contributions. The big question - in regards to the games you mention - is whether they are ready yet. May take a bit to jell with the returnees before they really take off.

Woodford with the earliest "statement win" of the season with a dominant win over Paul Dunbar. Not even close.
