Everybody forced some shots last night. I thought Maynard played his best game so far this year. Ferguson looked a little off last night for some reason. The whole team shot poorly. The bright side is they didnt quit and they played horrible and still only lost by 6 on the road.

Very surprising score. Hats off to Raceland for a big early season win over one of the 16th regions best.

 

I also believe the graduation of Ronald Weddington really hurt more than some in the know would have thought...the little things, size, strength, ability to create, block shots and energy...in addition Nathan Lewis had HUGE shots and big games for the Lions...they kind of remind me of the '05 Morgan team, they returned 4 starters off a state tournament team but the loss of Ryan Phipps meant so much for the Cougars and the flow of games.

 

Elliott will regroup and still be a formidable team this season, they have lots of talent and will win many games and potentially more.

Weddington was a big loss in more than stats, he drew the other teams best interior defender, now Ferguson has to face a better defender this year,

it all adds up, but like Nets said, I'm sure they will win more than their share of games, but rebounding will be the Lions Achilles heel, they will have a hard time overcoming a poor shooting night

Great win RAMS! Holbrook and Phillips really stepped it up! Also Sparks, Mullins, and Boyles turned in solid games. Mullins behind the back pass in the 4th quarter was amazing...the kid can flat out dish the basketball.

Ferguson took bad shots because there is absolutely nothing that resembles team ball. As far as what happened after the game I saw 1, not several, players walk off the floor during the award presentation. Read into what you want but that is exactly what happened.

Milhouse didn't say Ferguson took bad shots. He said that may not be what you want, but both of those kids usually make the same shots they took last night.

It wasnt just Ferguson or Maynard who took bad shots, but everyone who steped on the floor for Elliott County was trying to force things at one point of the game or anothner. I think the Rams took Elliott by suprise, and when Elliott got down, they was trying to get the lead back in one possesion. Everyone was trying to win the game by themselves rather than trying to executive an offense and play the way the game is suppost to be played. Elliott County will regroup, improve on these mistakes and be ready to play next week in the EKC tournament.

You people just don't get it! I have watched game about five times on video and it wasnt team ball it wasnt selfishness it wasnt rebounding(35 for the game) it wasn't losing weddington on the board's(in the 3 games played since nov. they are averaging 3 more per game than last year, it wasn't coaching it was purely and simply very poor shootin by everyone. credit some to raceland defense but there were lot's of "CLOSE" looks that just didn't go down. 28% from the field and 56% from the stripe(i know that wasn't the defense) you dont win with those percentages. Bottom line once again is THEY SHOT THE WORST ALL AROUND GAME OF THEIR CAREER'S whatever the reason may have been. 35 of their 63 shot's were 15ft or closer they only hit 11 of them that is 31%. point is they didnt live and die by the 3 like everyone is insinuating they just couldn't throw one in the ocean last night from anywhere. Ive never watched a perfect game or a game on any level where player's didnt try to create to make something happen which could be considered a forced shot but for the most part most of the shots Elliott took were open shot's they just didnt go down. Let me put it this way they were normal shot's for Elliott. Just werent falling.:thumb:

I agree with sportsfan. The shots werent falling, having alot to do with Raceland and the tough defense they were putting on the Lions. They made Elliott County take some bads shots. But some shots they missed were just not what we were use to seeing from an Elliott County team. I can promise you there is no jealously on this team. By the way I am reading this, most people are thinking that the Falkners and Ferguson were in a scoring battle last night and that is completely untrue. They are best friends, and are some of the most competetive kids I know. They want to do what is best for thier team, and what is going to produce wins. They will bounce back.

I think Elliott plays better when they are running and gunning and playing pressure basketball they have been doing that for the last few years and it has been working. Last night Raceland slowed the game down and Elliott didnt make them pay when they had open shots so hats off to the Rams. Elliott will bounce back.

Raceland did control the tempo. Elliott may had gotten 35 rebounds, but how many were offensive? They didnt get many second chances. The Rams claimed most of the defensive rebounds.

Don't know why you would drag Ferguson into this about his off balance shot's just because Platinum said Maynard was shooting 27 footer's because "I" can assure you 110% Platinum has no tie's in anyway to Ferguson! I could drag in a lot of flaw's if I wanted but I'm not like Platinum,and I do have ties to Ferguson, he is a very good friend of mine!!!!
