Nice to see East at 4-0 and they have the barrel/bragging rights over rival West Carter for a year. I'd like to get @farawaycomet2 take on the game.

I’m glad you responded. I was starting to think this thread was broken or something. There was a lot of commenting about the game all week long, but now nothing. Odd. And yes, it was a Game for the Ages. A great contest between 2 good teams. Carter County Football at its finest. Sorry if you couldn’t make it there.

Awakening for East Carter, and a big wake up for West Carter going forward. Confident both coaching staffs will maximize last nights game.

Big win for the Raiders. They could be 6-0 when Ashland rolls into Grayson to open district play. The Fleming game next week will be tough, though.

 

As for West, they can shake this off and take solace in knowing that a very winnable district is still in front of them. I've said it before but it bears repeating, Leetavious Cline is the best player in 2A that most people haven't heard of. He can hurt you in all three phases, as he did to East last night - 196 yards rushing and a TD/punt return TD/pick-six.

 

The Daily Independent reported upwards of 4,000 in attendance. It's great to see so much excitement and enthusiasm around these two schools. This could be a great year for Carter County football, no matter which end of the county you're from.

I’ve told this story a hundred times. When I came to Morehead from the suburbs of Baltimore, I soon learned that pretty much every fellow student from Kentucky was from a County. From Pike County. From Knott County. From Perry County.

 

Unless they were from Carter County. Those guys were either from Grayson or from Olive Hill.

West Carter did not take care of business. Special Teams Safety followed by a poor Kick Off, gave up a Kickoff Return TD, Fumbled Kick Off Return which gave East Carter the ball on the 5 and a 10 yard punt. Mistakes were made.

Please... I've been posting on here since 06'. Glad East Carter has something to be excited about, it has been a long time. Good luck in District Play.

The series has been pretty even the past 20+ years according to KHSAA for the past 22 years West leads 12 wins to 10. However East over the history of the schools has a fairly large lead all time. East leads in all sports by more than double digits with probably the one exception being girls basketball Where West probably has a small advantage. But in all of the other sports East has controlled.
