August 19, 20197 yr Has there ever been a team finish top 12 in the final poll and not receive any votes in the following year's preseason poll? I'm actually happy about it because UK tends to thrive on disrespect.

August 19, 20197 yr College football to me is much more than the top 25 or only the elite programs. Just like high school football you can find great games anywhere between teams that may never be ranked. I honestly can watch just about any college game. I love the big time matchups as much as the next guy. But I can watch East Carolina or UAB and enjoy it just as much. If you don't like college football that's fine, there plenty other things to watch on Saturday, maybe house flipping is more to your liking. Edited August 20, 20197 yr by Jumper_Dad
August 20, 20197 yr Snell and Allen were great but there's still plenty of talent there especially on the lines. 47 teams got votes in the AP poll - trust me that the players in the UK locker room will treat that as disrespectful. Coaches' poll has UK ranked 31st which I think is pretty accurate.
August 20, 20197 yr And their entire secondary. That is by far the biggest concern for UK this year. With Davonte Robinson out for the season they are now down their top 6 DBs from last year. They have recruited very well in the secondary the last couple years but hard to know what you've got until you see them get some game action.

The defense should always look better in camp because it’s not as complex as installing an offense and from what I heard, UK’s got lit up by the offense. We will see in a few weeks I suppose but I agree, it’s my biggest concern also.

August 20, 20197 yr I think you are greatly undervaluing what they meant to UK last year. Especially Benny. I think Benny is easier to replace than Allen. I think them not having to feel like they have to be reliant on Benny, actually will help make the offense better.
August 20, 20197 yr I think Benny is easier to replace than Allen. I think them not having to feel like they have to be reliant on Benny, actually will help make the offense better. I’d agree with that. I think the running game will be fine with Rose. It won’t be quite at Benny’s level, but the combination of Rose and Wilson running the read option will match most of the production on the ground from last year. Allen is harder to replace because he was able to mask much of the deficiencies the defense had last year. That’s why I’m not high on UK this year. The offense will be what it is, Wilson will likely improve a little bit, but the production won’t be much more than last year. I just don’t believe that defense will be able to match anywhere near the production it had last year. This feels like a 7-5 football team to me.
August 20, 20197 yr Author I think Benny is easier to replace than Allen. I think them not having to feel like they have to be reliant on Benny, actually will help make the offense better. The reason I put emphasis on Benny is because UK's defense was still solid even when Allen was out. Of course, he was a generational type player, but UK's offense was borderline bad without Benny. If you think Wilson is good enough to carry the offense, that's fine. And maybe Rose is good enough to keep defenses honest.

August 20, 20197 yr Only two ACC teams. B1G leads the way with seven. I can't argue with it right now. FSU is still pretty rough. NC State could be decent but who ever knows with them? The best team in the Coastal Division might be Virginia... and that's a problem.
