UK plays better teams in the SEC, obviously, but their non-conference games are lay-ups, and UC has a lot of their tougher opponents on the road. I think UC would beat UK on a neutral field as well, but I think UK ends up with a better record. In fact, I'm really confident about that -- and I'm a fan of neither one of them.
August 20, 20197 yr Snell and Allen were great but there's still plenty of talent there especially on the lines. 47 teams got votes in the AP poll - trust me that the players in the UK locker room will treat that as disrespectful. Coaches' poll has UK ranked 31st which I think is pretty accurate. If UK needs to complete forward passes with any regularity to win games, it is a crap-shoot. I think UK gets bowl eligible because of their 4 non-conference games, but 7-5 is their absolute ceiling. How are you going to rank a team like that pre-season? Their home game with the Gators (who might be a little over-ranked, to be honest) will tell the world a lot about what this Cats' team will look like. Same with the Cats' trip to South Carolina...circle those two games if you want to try and make a run into the polls this year.

UC has UCLA, Ohio State, UCF, Houston, and Memphis. I’m pretty confident they’ll at least go 3-2 against those 5 schools.They should win the rest of their games no problem. That gets UC to 10-2. I’d have a hard time believing UK gets to 10 wins this year.

I think they’d have to have multiple significant injuries to lose more than 4.

They will be a BEAST next year, but this year, their schedule does them no favors. Heck, Tony Pike laid out on his show one day how they "could" very easily be 1-5 through the first 6 games.

Louisville was simply just a bad football team on both sides of the ball most of the time Lamar was there. Lamar was just so freaking good it hid a lot of their problems at basically every position.

I think it's a preposterous notion to think that an offensive unit loses a transformative, game-altering player... and then gets better. History suggests that there are only a few schools that can pull that off and neither Kentucky nor Louisville fit the bill.

Lamar Jackson definitely was a transformative, generational, game altering type player. He also won a Heisman, finished in top 3 in the next, a first round pick, and led his team to the playoffs as a rookie. As much as I love Benny Snell, I dont view him as a transformative, game altering player like Jackson was for Louisville. Apparently the NFL didn't view him as such either. UKs offense scheme wise was doing things like the Wildcat and such before he came on campus with other running backs having success with it too on very bad teams. Benny was very good and obviously one of the best ever for UK. With that said he also played at a time when UK was getting better at other spots. One of the things that allows a team to keep running the ball a lot is a defense being good, and getting them the ball back and not giving up a lot of points. They will miss him, but their offense still has a chance to do well without him. The defense on the other hand will miss a truly game altering type defensive player in Allen.
