I have watched every Russell game for the past 5 years. With the way Russell has played in those years I guess a 41-26 score would be considered close. Honestly sometimes Russell gets boring to watch when they end up 50-6 and scores like that.

 

I guess I would consider scores like 10-7 and 7-0 close but not 41-26.

It was a whippin......PERIOD.

I think that was a fact he was proud of. Many teams in the state never get the opportunity to ever go to the championship game. So If they win a 1 out of 4 tries is a pretty good average.

I agree with that statement. But there are also some 2 td games that are farther apart than the score shows. This one was about right. Mercer was handled fairly well but Russell did not dominate just to let Mercer score several late in the game.

I couldn't remember either. Luckily I could pull up Russell's website and get those stats.

I would love to see Russel pull this one out and win back to back, but I dont think that will happen. I believe Mercer is just the better team.

I read from another post a long time ago in the pre season that at the Centre Combine #2 Cory Jackson ran a 4.31 Donald Walker #32 ran a 4.32(he should return this week from injury) and Brandon Ford #13 ran a 4.33 that was with a hand time though, and the wind played a factor. But still that is extremely fast!!!

Didn't know Mercer had 3 backs faster than any back in the NFL.

BTW, everyone lies about these 40 times. I would almost guarantee no high school kid in the state of Kentucky runs a 4.3 40yd, it just doesn't happen, let alone 3 backs on one team that run in the low 4.3's.

This group will set the state rushing record, they did not do it by being slow.

I never said they are slow I just don't think any of them let alone all three run in the 4.3's. Just because you don't run in the 4.3's doesn't mean you are slow.

They also have one heck of a coaching staff who was able to get these players to come together as one unit. There are plenty of talented teams out there, what makes a great team is what they can do as one unit. Jaggers and his staff have done a masterful job at that. For that, I commend them.

 

 

Consolidation or no consolidation or from what i have heard i wouldn't matter too much which class they were in they would be a front runner. All though i don't agree with them being in 2A, but like it was said earlier that is beating a dead horse and it is was not the coaching staffs nor the players choice. The fact is they have earned this spot. In high school it is incredibly hard to go week to week to week and be a great football team with no mistakes or getting beat. I dont believe it would matter what class they were in they would probably be making the trip to louisville. They have beat some good teams in convincing fashion. So i think they have earned where they are at.

Are any of these kids being currently pursued by and D-1 colleges?

I have looked myself through about thirty of these players and have seen 2 that have a 40 time in the 4.3's. And Mercer has 3 on one team in Kentucky that run in the low 4.3's?

Centre College 40 times are notoriously (spl?) fast because of them being Hand-held times. They are not electronically timed there.

 

I know these kids do not run legit 4.3's. Nobody in high school does, except for the very rare 5 star athlete. But trust me, they are some of the fastest kids in the state of Kentucky.
