Didn't Ashland lose to Raceland? Didn't Raceland lose to LCA? Was Ashland down this year or was the Raceland loss a fluke? Mercer beat LCA 63-0.

 

Raceland is an awesome 1A football team. Come on, give me a break, LOL!

Well what can I say? Yes I am from the OC camp which, of course was destoryed by Mercer this season and was also defeated by Russell last year at PJS. These are my observations which are just that and no more. Now, lets just me say that Mercer was, without a doubt the fastest and most talented top to bottom team we have seen all year. This we do not even try and dispute. Now granted I did not see Russell this year and so you can blast me for that when it is all said and done and no hard feelings will be absorbed here. My observations on Russell is taken just on last years game. I realize that it is a different team and different season so just bear with me. Russell has a great coach, a classy program and a great fan base and you have to love the smash mouth running and flat out toughness they bring to a game. I think some experience with a title game will play a part in the game. This game has the making of a great final. Many post on here are, it seems, from former players who have played in big games that ended their seasons and careers with tears or joy. You remember that feeling I am sure. The young kids on here are most likely not understanding this concept yet. Both team players and fans alike...take this all in. I hope you feel this again in your lives, but you may not. Put aside the differences and love this moment for what it is. Good luck to both teams. Travel well and safe. My only concern is now: When I sit down at PJS...do I sit and cheer for Russell or Mercer ? No prediction from me except this...This fella is going to watch a great game.... :D

Oh by the way Clark, Wells, Jones, and Beekman have 40 times under 4.3. See what I'm saying. I don't have to back it up. The truth is I don't think any of the Russell players can run a 4.4 40. I think Frazier is the fastest of the Devils but I don't know.

None of them run a 4.4

 

I heard that one of them ran a 4.5.

 

I would say the speed in Russell's backfield is pretty even. Most of the skill players run in the 4.6-4.8 range.

Ok, I'm guilty of doubting the resolve of this Red Devil team to get back to this state title game. Shame on me! These Devils let it be known loud and clear last Friday nite that they weren't quite finished with the season. When this team takes the field Friday they won't care that Mercer Co. is the odds on favorite to win. Instead they will line up and play hardnosed, smashmouth football for four full quarters. The Titans will know they played a game, I guarantee that much. I'm not sure if Mercer has played a real physical team yet this year, but they will get a full measure of one come kickoff time. I can't wait to see how this all plays out. We definitely have some playmakers and with a little bit of luck and the bounce of the ball in our direction we might pull the big upset. This is the premier finals game IMO.

I know Mercer is the big favorite here but I would love to see Russell pull the HUGE upset in this David vs. Goliath matchup against a team that should be playing in a higher division.
